Whether you're new to high altitude backcountry adventures, or are a seasoned backcountry enthusiast, we offer something for everyone. From hiking, rock climbing, mountaineering, and backcountry hut trips in the summer, to snowshoeing, winter mountaineering, and backcountry ski trips in the winter, we've got your backcountry wish list covered.

Typical Day
Our guests typically meet us at the Aspen Alpine guide desk at the Ute Mountaineer in Aspen at 9:00AM regardless of whether it's a half or full day adventure. If you've booked a trip to summit one of our 14,000' peaks, you'll set out much earlier with an "alpine start" designed to get you to the summit before noon.
Guests are encouraged to bring snacks, water, lunch, and extra protective layers in order to enjoy the day fully and stay energized, hydrated, and healthy. We leave plenty of time and opportunity to stop for the views and to refuel our bodies along the way.

Age range, type of group
Although we do cater to all ages, the minimum age is 7 years old for rock climbing, and 8 years old for all other activities. We are happy to take you out on a solo trip, or we can accommodate your entire family or group.
Sleeping and meals
Backpacking and hut trips can be arranged for multi day adventures. If you love primitive camping, you'll thoroughly enjoy a backpacking trip. If you'd rather sleep in a bed, then a hut trip may be the way to go.
