Our rural retreat offers you a unique location in a peaceful setting!
We are located in an idyllic setting on top of a hill overlooking the tidal Estuary of Ortigueira, the Capelada Mountain Range and the ocean beyond.
It takes only 10 minutes by car to get into town which has all commodities and to the very extensive and beautiful beach Morouzos (blue flag beach).
The Finca
Our Finca is part of a small hamlet and consists of a main house, the barn and a 10.000 square meter smallholding with a small veggie patch, horse paddocks ,a chicken pen etc.. ...
The buildings
The structures originate from the 15th century and have been left to ruin before we acquired the property.
The walls are made of stone,up to one meter thick and the roof is made of traditional black fish scale slate from a local mine.
The wood used is mainly chestnut (which grows locally) and the wooden ceilings are all exposed.
Many of the original beams have been restored and reused and we have utilized only natural materials for building (lime for pointing and plastering, linseed oil for treating the wood etc.).
The cabaña is completely open-plan on three levels.
