Located on the original Mormon Trail in the rolling hills of south central Iowa, The Inn of the Six-Toed Cat has numerous attractions in the area. Visit The Historic Round Barn Site, The Log Chain Apiary and Bob White State Park right in town. Prairie Trails Museum and shopping can be found nearby. Only a short half hour drive is Rathbun Lake, Iowa's largest man-made lake. There is also hunting land and fishing nearby.
This 1909 Railroad hotel is complete with 13 ft original tin ceilings and decorated with period antiques. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the large east portico - complete with an antique wicker porch swing! The north side of the building has a garden with numerous seating areas to relax. The inn has free on-street parking right out front.
The Inn of the Six-Toed Cat is also a banquet facility. With seating for 15-50 people, large groups can be accommodated for meals. It can also be used for conferences and meetings.
There are nine themed guest room and can sleep up to 22 people. The Presidential Suite is decorated in antique red, white and blue. It has a Brass King bed, a sitting room with a full-sized sofa bed and a private 3/4 bath. The Mormon Trail Suite celebrates the Mormon's migrations from Navoo, Illinois to Salt Lake City, Utah. It has an antique 2-piece full bed set, the sitting room sofa converts to two twin beds and has a private 3/4 bath. The Notrella room pays homage to this little town (Allerton spelled backwards), has a full white iron canopied bed and shares the hall bath. The Chautauqua room remembers those celebrations of times long past with a matching 2-piece full bed set and shares the hall bath. The Alice Blue room is in memory of Teddy Rosevelt's daughter. It has two twin Jenny Lind beds and shares the hall bath. The Olympian room celebrates local and state sports heros. It has a king bed and shares the hall bath. The Thomas Beckett room is in remembrance of the original six-toed cat. It has two twin beds and shares the hall bath. The Anniversary room is decorated in pink and black with a full bed and a private 3/4 bath. The Bridal room has an antique 3-piece matching full bed set. The dressers have marble tops and the bed has a canopy. The private bath has a whirlpool tub.
Celebrating or just want to be romantic? Order our Sweetheart Basket. This basket contains homemade baked goods, chocolates and sparkling grape juice and will be waiting in your room upon arrival. Cost: $20.

From Highway 35, take Highway 2 east for approximately 40 miles. Turn south on county road S26 (signs direct to Allerton). The Inn is located 3 miles south on S26. After crossing the railroad tracks, the inn is on the west side of the street.
