We will drive to the Golden Horn, the historic estuary which flows into the Bosphorus, forming a natural harbor, which is the cityi s raison di etre. One of the best natural harbors in the world, it divides European Istanbul. The Byzantine and Ottoman navies and commercial shipping interests were centered here. Embarking on our private sightseeing boat, we will start our cruise along the Bosphorus toward the Black Sea, stopping alternately on the European and Asian shores, where we will be able to see 19th century Ottoman palaces such as Dolmabahce, Cyraoan and many i yalii , the traditional Ottoman houses built along the Bosphorus. We will stop at one of the fishing villages for lunch. At Yenikoy, we will disembark to visit the Sadberk Hanim Museum. A private museum which originally displayed Turkish decorative arts, it has been expanded with a collection of archaeological finds. The collection fills two charming 19th century wooden villas. We will drive back to the Golden Horn from the museum, to visit the Spice Bazaar. The enticing aromas of cinnamon, caraway, saffron, mint, thyme and every other conceivable herb or spice fill the air of one of the most colorful markets of the city where primarily spices and medicinal herbs are sold. The market is part of the Kulliye, the complex of religious and philanthropic institutions of Yeni Cami, and the nearby Ottoman mosque, which was completed in 1663 by Turhan Hatice, the mother of Sultan Mehmet IV. Using one of the oldest and shortest subways in the world, we will go for a walk on the Grand Rue de Pera, the 19th century center of the city where the European embassies and communities were located. After dinner at one of the local restaurants in Pera, we will drive back to the hotel.
Our tours are designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages and interests. Turkey is a fascinating destination that offers a memorable travel experience. Whether in the city or countryside, there is always something to stimulate young and old alike and arouse the spirit of adventure.
We carefully select hotels with high standards that also provide a genuine feeling for the local culture. We try to avoid international chain hotels, when possible. as we consider them to be the same worldwide and lacking in warmth. The hotels we choose always have modern amenities in every room. The cleanliness of the facilities is one of our primary concerns. We carefully choose our restaurants so you will have the opportunity to sample a wide variety of authentic Turkish cuisine, which is highly regarded around the world. In order to accomplish this, we usually choose restaurants outside of the hotel where you can enjoy your meal in the local atmosphere. We will do our best to accommodate special dietary preferences as long as we are advised prior to your departure.
