The historic Big Bear landmark Knickerbocker Mansion Country Inn was originally built by the 1st damkeeper of the Big Bear Lake Dam in 1920. This magnificently restored unique log private home and carriage house is now a well known B & B with rustic elegance, a quite atmosphere and personal attention from the innkeepers. Two historic buildings with guest rooms sitting on 2.5 private heavily treed acres backing to the national forest, yet walking distance to the Village of Big Bear Lake. The moment you arrive you will realize the Knickerbocker is a very special place.

Carriage House Suite: This very large fully appointed suite has an in the forest private outdoor deck, river rock gas log fireplace, marble tile bath with spa tub and separate shower. A love seat sitting area infront of the fireplace has a 32-inch Sony TV with VCR, plus a game table, cd audio system, small refrig, microware and coffee service area. The king bed has premium linens with down featherbed and down duve comforter.

Forest View III: A fully handidap accessible room with large mable tile bath and queen bed. TV/VCR, writing desk and with the opening of the entry can be used as the 2nd bedroom and bath for the Carriage House Suite.

Carriage House Rooms: Four small very cozy 2nd floor rooms with separate outside entrances, Loggy, twiggy furniture, queen beds, full private bath with tub and shower, wall mounted gas log fireplaces, private telephones and TV/VCR's. Each of these rooms has a different mountain decor and about 100 feet from the main mansion.

Penthouse: This 700 square foot luxury suite is the entire top of the historic mansion with spectular views out all four directions. It is four dormers connecting a center cathedral ceiling room. A real woodburning Vermont Casting wood stove keeps it cozy warm in winter. Lay in the King Pine Four Poster and look all the way to lake through the forest. One of the dormers is a full bath with a large roman style tile spa tub with shower. Enjoy a private 10X14 deck that is like a perch on top of tree with spectaular mountain and forest views and private exterior stairway to the large back ground level deck. A TV/VCR, perfect for that bedtime viewing is builtin, plus cd audio system, small refrig, microwave and coffee service area. The west dormer is a sitting area with love set, 32-inch Sony TV with DVD player is ready for your view pleasure. A writing desk is perfect, is you must work.

Cedar Rooms: Located in historic mansion on the 2nd floor are four very comfortable rooms, each with full private bath, faux fire stoves, queen beds with down feather beds and down comforters. Each of these rooms has a private telephone and a TV/VCR. Two of the rooms have recently renovated marble tile baths.

A full gourmet breakfast is included each morning in our two dining rooms. In winter sit next the hugh native rock original fireplace or in the 2nd dining room with its large windows to have a wonderful view of the forest. Summer dining can be enjoyed on the large outdoor back deck with large market umbrellas and white pine log tables and chairs.

The main lobby has yet another original rock fireplace, cozy leather sofa and wing chairs, antigue grand piano, game table and additional comfortable wing chairs perfect for sitting in the afternoon sun and reading. An antique library table in the center of room has an iMAC with high speed internet access computer for guests to enjoy. No TV's here....just soft classical music.

A separate new conference center building is perfect for corporate retreats and private functions of up to 35 people. Catering is available and this conference room is fully equipmented with sound system, high speed internet computer access and phones. It is wired and ready for your function.
