The town offers quaint shops and fine restaurants and galleries and a working lighthouse that overlooks the harbor and beaches. Activities include bicycling, whale watching, fishing, sailing, swimming, antiquing, walking, golfing, bird watching, kayaking, sun bathing, tennis, croquet on the lawn and a host of other activities including just relaxing and reading a good book.
The main inn, an 1839 Greek Revival style sea captain's home, the attached "Carriage House", the 200 year old "Captain's Cottage" and the recently added luxurious "Stables" provide 16 sumptiously appointed guest quarters. Each has its own personality; all with king or queen canopy or four poster beds, fireplaces TV/VCR and sitting areas. some have large whirlpool tubs, coffee makers and mini refrigerators and all have private bath, air conditioning and telephone with voice mail and data ports.
Both the reception room, common room with its wood burning fireplace and library with its original "tin" ceiling are beautifully appointed with antiques, period wallpaper and furnishings reminiscent of Williamsburg. Stroll through the herb garden or sit by the Italian water fountain, play lawn croquet, swim in the pool, or ride one of the courtesy bicycles to the beach. Enjoy gourmet country breakfasts and English afternoon teas served by British Hotel Management students in the dining room, which overlooks the gardens and the brick patio with its "Three Graces" fountain. These enthusiastic young people contribute to the high caliber of service offered at the inn.
