We start by visiting the historical time line museum at the Sapelo Island Visitor's Center, the board the ferry for the 30 minute trip to the Island as dolphins, sea gulls, and pelicans play in the wake. Taking a rented vehicle on the Island, we visit the University of Georgia's Marine Institute with it's interesting turkey fountain, the 200 year old R.J. Reynolds Mansion, the beautiful Sapelo Island Lighthouse, Sapelo's unspoiled and undeveloped beaches, and the Hog Hammock National Historic Area, home of African-American Gullah-Geechee descendants of the Island's former slaves, and haunted Behavior Cemetery!
