Golfing Waterville has long been a Mecca for discerning golfers. And we're just a short distance from 2 challenging Golf courses, at the Waterville Golf Club and the Skellig Bay Golf Club! Angling There is excellent sea fishing from the shore or boat with a large variety of fish including Shark, Tuna and Sea Bass. Lake Currane offers great fishing for sea and brown trout, as well as for salmon.
The Kerry Way is Ireland's longest (215 kms) signposted walking trail and also one of the most popular. A coastal section of the Kerry Way touches Waterville and meets the inland route outside Caherdaniel again. We co-operate with a number of B&Bs on the Kerry Way [more...] to provide for walkers' needs, including transport to and from the trail and luggage transport. We do have washing and drying facilities as well as storage for your equipment. Kerry Way walkers regularly take a day of rest at our B&B and avail of a trip to the Skellig Islands while they are here!
More Walking There are a number of fine walks in the area! Valentia Island (20 mins. drive) has a number of fabulous walks with great views onto the Skelligs, the rugged coastline and over the Mountains of Iveragh Peninsula.
A trip to the Skelligs is a must on your holidays in County Kerry! These craggy islands rise dramatically from the ocean 15kms off the western coast. Little Skellig is a bird reserve, with nearly 20 thousand gannets nesting here each year. The larger Skellig Michael with its cliffs rising over 200 mtrs above the sea once was the westernmost outpost of Christianity in Europe. The monastic settlement consists of two oratories, six beehive huts, church and graveyard, which can all be reached on over 600 steps cut into the rocks. Boat trips to the islands take place during the summer months from Portmagee and from Ballinskelligs, weather permitting. A bus for the boats leaves at the B&B !
