SNOWMOBILE ADVENTURES to the Floe Edge or Fiords:

Travel on a long sled (qamutik) pulled by a snowmobile, operated by an experienced Inuit guide. This mode of travel is faster than by dog sled so you will be able to visit more areas or have more time to look for wildlife at the floe edge or in the fiords. At the floe edge, the landfast ice meets the open waters of Baffin Bay. There, you may see the narwhal or unicorn of the sea, polar bears from a safe distance, boisterous seabirds, seals and perhaps the rare bowhead, the largest whale to occur in Arctic waters. Alternatively, you could tour the winding fiords and glaciers with caribou and get opportunity to fish for Arctic char through lake ice. Here nature dominates whether you gaze out across the waters of Baffin Bay, lean back to see the cliff tops of Bylot Island or contemplate the forces that forged the fiords deep into Baffin Island's interior - awe inspiring experiences.

BOATING ADVENTURES for Whale-watching, birding-, or general ecotourism, archeological site visits, fishing, etc.:

Experienced guides will take you into deep fiords the summer homes of that unique Arctic whale, the narwhal or unicorn of the sea. These whales can have tusks up to 9 feet long. Watch for a double tusker, a rare sight indeed! You may fish for the prized Arctic char, a cousin of the salmon. While out on the water, watch for seals, migratory birds, belugas, and the rare bowhead and killer whales. Visit the largest colony of greater snow geese on Bylot Island in Sirmilik National Park. If you are interested in several of these and other activities, we will develop a special adventure for you so you may view other wildlife and see other natural features of the High Arctic.

DOG SLEDDING ADVENTURE:

Enjoy the peaceful and stunning beauty of High Arctic mountains as you travel quietly on a sled (qamutik) pulled by a team of Canadian Inuit dogs. Breathe in the cool, fresh air, and admire the spectacular surroundings - mountains, glaciers, wildlife and icebergs. Dog sledding will allow you to sample the traditional Inuit way of life. You will be accompanied by an experienced Inuit guide who knows the land, the sea and wildlife.
Typical Daykeyboard_double_arrow_up
After breakfast, you will head out by dog sled, smowmobile and sled, or boat. You will be taken to the sea ice or shore in summer where the gear will be loaded. Once on board the sled or boat, off you go. The mountains and surrounding scenery will fill you with a sense of amazement. You will stop occasionally for tea and sightseeing. Once at the campsite near the floe edge or in the fiords, an igloo or tent will be set up by your guide. After a meal, you can visit the floe edge, fiords, an ice cave, archeological sites, hoodoos, glaciers or search for wildlife that interest you and your group for numerous photo opportunities and sightseeing. Depending on time and weather, you may try your hand at igloo building or some other Inuit skill.
