Higher Faugan is situated in West Cornwall and is within easy reach of quiet sandy beaches and small fishingvillages little changed over the years.

There is sea fishing, sailing and wind surfing readily available or you can walk the Cornish coastal path and take in the spectacular scenery. There are also many fine sub-tropical gardens to visit and several first class golf ourses all within easy reach of the hotel.

Higher Faugan was built in 1904 by the artist Stanhope A. Forbes, founder of the famous Newlyn school of artists, where he lived with until his death in 1947, and it has been a hotel since 1952.

With just 11 letting bedrooms, the owners are on hand at all times with a small but helpful and knowledgable staff to attend to the needs of the discerning guest. Set in 10 acres of gardens and grounds, Higher Faugan offers peace and tranquility in comfortable surroundings where you can relax and unwind or take advantage of the many activities available locally.

Our rooms are comfortably furnished, some with Victorian and Edwardian furniture. All have en-suite facilities and some have views across the garden to Mounts Bay.

Our restaurant has a table d'haute menu and we serve English, French and Italian dishes. Vegetarian dishes are available if prior notice of this requirement is given.

We have a games room available containing a full size snooker table and a pool table. There is an outdoor swimming pool, and 18 hole putting green and a hard tennis court available for the sole use of our guests.

Situated at the end of an 800 metre drive, there is ample off street parking.

Children under the age of 12 years are welcome and if sharing their parents room will be accommodated at a reduced rate.

Dogs are permitted in owners room but we regret that they are not allowed in the public rooms of the hotel. A small daily charge is made for this.

Guests are requested not to smoke in the dining room.

There is a main line railway station at Penzance where inexpensive taxis are plentiful and the journey to the hotel takes approximately ten minutes.

By car, take the A30 from Exeter to Penzance. Follow the coast road to Newlyn and then take the B3315 Chywoone Hill. the entrance to the drive of Higher Faugan will be found at the top of Chywoone Hill on the right hand side.
