We have fallen in love with the beauty of Kauai and its people.

Kauai is known as the "Garden Island" due to its lush green landscape. Even among the Hawaiian Islands, Kauai stands out for its natural beauty. The rivers and streams nourish an abundance of trees, flowering plants and exotic birds, many species of which cannot be found anywhere else. Scenic wonders include Waimea Canyon, Hanalei Valley, Kilauea Lighthouse and wildlife refuge, Fern Grotto, many stunning beaches and, for the courageous, Kalalau Valley.

Youve probably seen more of Kauai than you realize, and a casual drive from our condo toward the north shore might surprise you as you pass the scene where stampeding dinosaurs nearly stomped the humans in Jurassic Park. Kauai has been used as a location for movies set in Brazil, Korea, Vietnam, Africa, and even Mars. So many movies have been set here you can take a tour which visits many movie locations.

Much of the island is untouched by human development, and you can explore it by foot, boat, plane or helicopter. The Waimea Canyon, the grand canyon of the pacific, the rocky NaPali Coast, and the beautiful Hanalei Valley offer breathtaking vistas. Or, you can simply drive through whispering palm groves, rolling hills and quaint villages. Perhaps you'll take advantage of some of the world's finest beaches, golf courses and restaurants. Or you might go hiking, surfing, snorkeling, hiking, bicycling, kayaking, ziplining, horseback riding, or driving among Kauai's unrivaled natural splendors. Possibilities for exploring the outdoor treasures on Kauai are unlimited. We keep a list of things we want to do and it keeps getting longer even though we try to do some of them whenever we can.

OrYou might kick back and let all your stress melt away in the warm sun and gentle trade winds of Kauai. Visitors sometimes have difficulty realizing they dont have to do anything! Catamaran cruises, worldclass golf courses, surf, snorkeling, hiking, hula shows, luaus, and sightseeing can easily use up your day. With weather that is moderate year around, (average temperatures range from 70 to 81F) its OK to lie for hours on the beach, or sit on one of your lanais and watch the surf. Also, while you cant use this as an excuse every time you want to come, Kauai is a popular place to get married as well as to honeymoon.

Ouray is located in the majestic San Juan Mountains of SW Colorado. Our village is surrounded by peaks and cliffs forming our box canyon. Cascade Falls seems to pour down on Main Street from over 200ft up, while Box Canyon Falls can be heard on a quiet night thundering in its rocky cravass on the other side of town. Ouary was founded in 1876, the same year as Colorado statehood. Its roots are in mining, first silver then later gold. Our town was one of the centers of Colorado mining for many years. Unlike many mining camps that grew roughly from the sides of mountains then died, Ouray held a natural beauty and mistique that few other locations can come close to matching. This is one reason Ouray held a natural attraction for families, busineses and churches to come and grow as a community. Today, therefore, Ouray is listed, as a community, on the national register of historic places with numerous vintage victorian homes and buildings to enjoy. Ouray is a walking town being ten by seven blocks in size. Everything is within walking distance from everything else. The museum, the Ouray Hot Springs Pool (open year round), the four star restaraunts, galleries, curio shops & even the beginners ski hill are right in town. Ouray is a center for outdoor mountain activities including cross country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, ice climbing, and snowmobling in winter to summer activities including jeeping the abandoned mining trails to the tundra above 13000ft, hiking, mountain biking, mountain climbing, and more!! Spring brings the wildflowers and the snow melt that surges the waterfalls to capacity, Fall is the spectacular show of golden aspen color!! The Fourth of July and New Years Eve bring parades and fabulous fireworks! Side trips from Ouray include Silverton (26mls) over the spectacular Million Dollar Highway, one of the top three scenic drives in the USA. In Silverton you will be at the Northern terminus of the Silverton Railroad, an authentic 1800's steam passenger train that runs 45miles down the Animas Canyon.
