A waterfall above Black Rock in about 20 minutes walking distance. Small excursions on foot or by mountain bike in the neighborhood to open a nice insight into the way of life and the nature of Tobago and its people.

Beaches
From our house there are several very nice beaches reachable.

Turtle Beach (beach house), 2 minute walk (see photo right)
Back Bay, 20 min walk (Robinson Beach! Please do not bring valuables)
Mount Irvine Surfstrand (surfing, snorkeling), about 3 km with a collective taxi or on foot
Bucco Bay, nice to run about 5 km long
Grafton Bay, 10 min walk
Pigeon Point and Store Bay near the airport about 15 km with a collective taxi or private car for trips to Englishman's Bay, Parlatouvier Bay, Castara, Speyside and Charlotteville od he rainforest and several waterfalls, a private car or taxi is adviced

Jemas apartment is a 1minute walk away from BlackRock a friendly fishing village,beaches and restaurant, a small but useful minimart, and a few very tasty local and finedining restaurants the kind of establishments it's always nice to be close to on a selfcatering holiday. Black Rock is located between Mt. Irvine and Plymouth, within a 20 minute (walking) radius of 5 of the nicest beaches along the Caribbean north coast. Away from the crowds of the lower lying tourist districts like Crown Point and the Store Bay area, these beaches are much quieter and largely free from any sort of commercialisation. Turtel beach is a 1 minute,Grafton Beach is just a 5minute walk away. The Shirvan Rd. which runs along the lower part of the Caribbean north coast Rd. has become home to 1/2 dozen of Tobago's most popular restaurants. All are within a 5 10 min. drive of Black Rock. Recreational activities nearby this holiday home/vacation rental cycling, diving, fishing, golf, horse riding.

Come to Tobago for the thrill of landing a 50 to 100 lb. tarpon, the most acrobatic of all fish, full body jumps, and a favorite of salt water fishers.Stay with us at Hibiscus Heights, ocean view, housekeeping and just steps to the beach.


Two boats Grand Slam 200 which is our inshore boat for tarpon fishing, bone fish and permit which is 22 foot long. These fish are available year round with the peak tarpon season May to October. Kester specialises in fly fishing for bone fish, tarpon and permit and people have travelled from most countries in the world to fly fish with Kester. The cost of the boat (up to 3 people) is $170 U.S dollars for 4 hours. We also have the 32 foot Grand Slam II for offshore fishing for which the high season is January to the end of April. During the high season we catch marlin to 500 lb, sailfish to 80 lb, wahoo and dorado to 50 lb and tuna to 70 lb. Outside of the high season its mainly jacks, barracuda, kingfish and sharks. Prices for the big boat (up to 5 people) are $300 U.S dollars for 4 hours and $500 U.S dollars for 8 hours.
