Civil Twilight is a 2004 Passport 470CC. Three private cabins, main salon with ushaped settee and separate nav station, 2 heads, and galley. We are proud to welcome you aboard the WANDERBIRD. This vessel is the culmination of our over forty years combined experience as professional mariners. We invite you to join us aboard this extraordinary vessel. We have drawn from our experience of carrying passengers on a traditional rigged sailing ship to create a custom design for your safety and comfort. WANDERBIRD is a combination of several elements a traditional ketch auxillary sailing rig, interiors with classic yacht design, a gourmet galley, the strength and integrity of a working fishing vessel and capabilities for offshore adventure.

the coach house
One of the favorite shipboard places for relaxation is the deck house. The deck house is completely protected from the weather, with lots of windows, beautiful varnished wood panels, a reading library, comfortable couches and even a traditional shipmate stove. At night, the salon is filled with lantern light, song and stories. Musical instruments are always welcome!

The belowdeck salon is laid out in the typical style of a 19th century pilot schooner, with a warm comfortable wood interior. It was designed for educational films and natural history demonstrations, and can double as an informal classroom.

The WANDERBIRD is a traditional styled vessel with modern navigation & safety equipment. Our engine is used to take us on our planned course, and sails are supplementary. Modern equipment is used for whalesong recording and other safety/research purposes. But our loving restoration of the WANDERBIRD has retained the feeling of the old Dutch fishing vessel by using traditional materials wherever possible.

The J. & E. Riggin is a beautiful old twomasted schooner that has been newly rebuilt to accommodate 24 passengers and 6 crew. She is 90' long on deck, 120' overall, 23' wide and draws 7' with her centerboard up. The Riggin was originally built in Dorchester, N.J., in 1927, for the oysterdredging trade. She was built for Charles Riggin, who named her after his two sons, Jacob and Edward. She gained a fine reputation in the Delaware Bay area as an able sailor. After being rebuilt and rerigged as a passenger vessel, the Riggin has sailed Penobscot Bay since 1977. She was designated a National Historic Monument in 1991.

The Riggin is fully equipped with GPS, radar, loran, and radio. She meets all Coast Guard requirements for construction and safety equipment. Newly certified to carry passengers, she fully meets all requirements for stability and watertight integrity. With her sleek lines preserved, the Riggin is still the fast and reliable sailor that earned the respect of the oystermen on the Delaware Bay. Just as she was when she was built, the Riggin has no inboard engine. Her sixteenfoot dieselpowered yawl boat can be used during calm spells for maneuvering into or out of tight harbors. The Riggin's superior sailing ability allows us to cruise by the islands and coastal scenery without the noise and fumes of an engine to disturb the spell.
