Ouray is located in the majestic San Juan Mountains of SW Colorado. Our village is surrounded by peaks and cliffs forming our box canyon. Cascade Falls seems to pour down on Main Street from over 200ft up, while Box Canyon Falls can be heard on a quiet night thundering in its rocky cravass on the other side of town. Ouary was founded in 1876, the same year as Colorado statehood. Its roots are in mining, first silver then later gold. Our town was one of the centers of Colorado mining for many years.
