Mountain Skills Climbing Guides is a fullyinsured, AMGA accredited rock and ice climbing service based in New York's Shawangunk and Catskill Mountains, affectionately known to climbers as "The Gunks". Mountain Skills Climbing Guides was created to help aspiring climbers learn how to climb confidently and efficiently while fostering a sense of awareness about the natural environments climbers visit.

Whether you are looking for a guide service to provide you with an introduction to the vertical environment, or you are an experienced climber looking to hone your skills and pick up a few more, we have an instructor for you. Our guides are highly experienced professionals licensed by New York State. We have climbed extensively throughout North America as well as in some of the finest crags around the world. Rhinebeck is located in the Historic Hudson Valley of New York. Nearby there are antique shops and many unique stores as well as gourmet restaurants. Mansions, wineries, historical sites and beautiful nature walks and gardens offer only a few of the sites to tour. The Rhinebeck Performing Arts Center, and the Rhinebeck Tennis Club are on adjacent properties arrangements can be made to use these facilities. The Old Rhinebeck Areodrome and the Dutchess County Fairgrounds are a short drive awaywith many different and unusual shows and exhibitions seasonally.
The Culinary Institue of America offers four restaruants and has many of its graduates working in the local area, giving superior quality to our restaurants and pubs.
There are many lakes and streams in the area offering fresh water swimming and fishing. Lake Taghkanic State Park, Wilcox Park and Stissing Lake are a few of the nearby areas, about 15 minutes away. The Rojan creek and the Hudson and Sawkill rivers are good fishing sites to.
Horsebackriding is offered at many of the local stables which will have scenic trail rides and offer lessons both english or western style.

The Hudson Valley Raptor Center offers educational exhibits and a vareity of local rescued birds of prey for you to see. They do a great job of rehabilitating Owls, Hawks, Osprey and many more raptors.
