The storefronts are as they were when Lanesboro was first put on the map! A great variety of shops ranging from a Local Winery, Amish Tours, Gourmet Restaurants, Amish Gift and Furniture Shops, Ice Cream Parlor, Full Service Outfitters with Canoe, Tube, Bike XSki and Snowshoe Rental, Live Professional Acting Theatre and Fine Art Store. You find a place to park and take a journey down the Root River Trail. A 60mile paved multiple use corridor trail developed on an abandoned railroad grade. Bicycling, inline skating and hiking in the summer and XSkiing in the winter. Canoeing down the Root River is an adventure all in itself! Rent a canoe from the Little River General Store (18009942943), and take the 4 trip from Moens Bridge to Whalan. Intermediate water with many small rapids throughout the trip. Look out for the sunken tree trunks! You may find yourself up the creek without a paddle! While traveling down the Root River and State Trail outstanding views of the soaring limestone bluffs and the abundant sighting of wild turkey, deer, hawks and turkey vultures will keep you entertained.
