Kenya holds some remarkable birding sights that you have to see them to believe. You can find the worlds biggest bird, the Ostrich, but also spectacular flamingos that congregate in their millions at the various Lakes of the Great Rift Valley and camouflage them in pink,



With eleven percent of the worlds species some 1089 different varieties, Kenyas birding is one of the best in the world.
It is not unusual to record 300600 different varieties on a short trip or to record more than 120 at a particular site on a single day!
The variety of birds in Kenya is made possible by the favourable climate, diverse habitats and geographical features that make it a suitable migratory route for birds.

This tour has been organised to cover some of the best birding areas and aims to visit a range of habitats.

Besides birdwatching we will give attention to gameviewing in general. Most places do have fabulous possibilities.

Day 1 Nairobi Arusha
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel and thereafter, depart for Arusha arriving in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon organising any gear you require for the trek.
Overnight at your Arusha hotel.

Day 2 Arusha Mandara
After breakfast, drive to Moshi then on to the Marangu Park Gate, the set off point for your three hour hike to Mandara Hut in which you cover 9 km. Here, we are at 2,774m above sea level on your first overnight on Kilimanjaro.

Day 3 Mandara Horombo
Begin your trek to Horombo hut in an average hiking time of 8 hours, lunch enroute. In clear weather Mawenzi and Kibo peaks can be seen.
Dinner and overnight at the hut, altitude 3,761m.

Day 4 Horombo Kibo
After breakfast, hike 13 km to Kibo hut, 4,732 m above sea level in an average hiking time of 6 hours. You will now encounter spectacular mountain vegetation like lobelia, giant cactus and groundsel.

Day 5 Kibo Horombo via Gilmans Point and Uhuru Peak.
Wake up at 02.00 a.m. for a predown attempt of the summit. It takes 5 hours to Gilmans Point 5,681 m above sea level. From Gilmans it takes 1 hours to the summit Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,896 m above sea level. Descend to Horombo hut for overnight.

Day 6 Horombo Arusha
After breakfast, descend to the Marangu Park Gate via Mandara. You will be transferred to your Arusha hotel for overnight.

Day 7 Arusha Nairobi
After breakfast depart for Nairobi on the morning or afternoon shuttle.

Day 1 Nairobi Arusha
Leave Nairobi for Arusha by shuttle bus arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon is spent at leisure and shopping for the provisions needed for the Mountain.
Dinner and overnight at an Arusha hotel.

Day 2 Arusha Lava Caves
After breakfast, transfer to Marangu gate and then to Umbwe Village to start the climb. Climb for four hours through the rainforest to camp at the caves 2,800m above the sea level.

Day 3 Lava Caves Barranco Hut
After breakfast, continue ascent along a sharp ridge, giving a distinct high mountain feeling, then onto the Moorland Camp and arrive my mid afternoon. Stay at Barranco hut 3,900m.

Day 4 Barranco Hut Arrow Glacier
A fourhour walk past enormous breach walls to camp at the foot of the Arrow Glacier. A leisurely afternoon and evening, acclimatizing at around 4900m and watching the sunset behind Mt. Meru.

Day 5 Arrow Glacier Kilimanjaro Crater Rim
Climbing the same steep walls and scrambling up the screen and across the frozen lava on the tottering wall. We camp on the stunning crater rim of Kilimanjaro.

Day 6 Kilimanjaro Crater Rim Horombo Hut
You trek up the highest point in Africa, Uhuru Peak (5,896m). Descend via Gilmans point and onto Kibo hut for dinner and overnight (3,761m).

Day 7 Horombo Hut Arusha
After breakfast, descent to the Marangu Park Gate via Mandara. You will be transferred to Arusha for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 Arusha Nairobi
After breakfast, leave for Nairobi by morning or afternoon shuttle, where the tour ends.
