First, there is the beach. The sand here is unlike other beaches. Mostly quartz, it is white and very fine. Not only does it look nice and feel good between your toes, it also stays cooler than other darker sands. Siesta Key is worldrenowned for its sand.

The water is quite pleasant here especially in the summer months. The gentle slope of the beach means gentle surf (most of the time) making conditions great for water sports. Some of the available activities include swimming, snorkeling, fishing, windsurfing, parasailing, jet skiing, and boating. The scuba diving offshore is also excellent when conditions are right. Everything you need to participate in these activities is available locally.

For food drink and shopping, Siesta Village is the place to go. This area along Ocean Blvd. has many restaurants that range from casual to formal dining, a number of colorful drinking establishments, and shops where you can buy wares ranging from groceries, to souvenirs, to fine art work. In the event you get bored which would be highly unlikely mainland Sarasota is just a few miles away.
