Tiu Kreschatik

A quiet and peaceful hostel right in the heart of Kiev, we are situated on the city main street Kreschatik exactly next to the Independence Square, which you could remember from 2004 as the centre of the main public protests of the Orange Revolution - can the location be more central than this? ;o)

Just within a minute walk from the hostel you can find a variety of tourist attractions, cafes, bars, restaurants, shops - yes, it's all here!

NOTE: we are NOT a sex-tourist friendly hostel - if you are coming for women and cheap booze, you better find another place. Stag parties are NOT welcome - please choose to stay somewhere else. We have ZERO-TOLERANCE against bad, drunken behaviour and bad language towards other guests or members of the staff.


DISCOUNTS: we are glad to provide discounts for our return customers, guests sent from other TIU hostels, Peace Corps and other volunteer programs participants - please inquire upon your arrival about the discounted prices.

We can provide stamped booking confirmation letters for your visa support FREE of charge (please inform us at least 2 days in advance).

Our MAX price for a dorm bed is no more than 10 euro on the week days and 12 euro on the weekends. We can not and will not be beaten on price or standards - what you book is what you pay.

NO HIDDEN EXTRAS !

Our hostel consists of one 10-bed dorm, one private room, a common room, bathroom, toilet and a fully equipped kitchen guests can prepare food in. It is a bright place with big windows in every room. We have air-conditioning and fly-screens in our dorms, so no bug bites while you are sleeping. Our common room has a plasma TV, DVD player and English TV programs. We have a safe in which you can leave your valuables and there are convenience lockers in the dorm.

Our staff are all fluent in English.

We have fire equipment.


We can arrange for FREE:

- Tours to Chernobyl (please inform us at least 4 days in advance)
- Transfers to the airport for up to 14 euro
- AK-47 shooting and BRDM vehicle driving

Directions

FROM THE CENTRAL TRAIN STATION:

If you arrive to the train station after the midnight, taxi will be probably your best choice. The normal price to get from there to our hostel is 30 UAH (40 UAH at the most, just to avoid any haggling - they should be happy with that).

If you arrive to the train station before midnight though, you may take the metro. The Vokzal'na metro station is 100 meters to the left from the train station main entrance. Walk in there, buy a token per person, go down the escalator and take the right-hand train direction. Go to the 3rd station from Vokzal'na - the Kreschatik station (that is pass the Universitet station, then Teatral'na and finally step off on the Kreschatik). Once out of the train, turn to the left, go up the escalator and you will come out to the Kreschatik street - the city main street. Cross it, turn to the right and walk ahead for about 5 minutes towards the Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti). Cross the square underground, leave it behind and walk for another 5 minutes in the direction of a big arch you will see ahead. Keep watching for the number 8 street sign (you can see a photo of it among our hostel profile pictures). Walk through the passage into the inner court, go till the end of it and you will see a door on the right hand. Enter it (there is a code lock on the door but it does not work, so don't worry about it), go up onto the 4th floor and you will see a sign 'TIU Kreschatik' on the door - here you are, welcome!


FROM THE AIRPORT:

There are several ways to get to our hostel from the Boryspil airport. The easiest one - yet the priciest as well, - is on taxi: you can go to the taxi office directly outside the arrivals lounge and there you should be able to get a taxi to our hostel for around 200 UAH (about 19-20 euros). This should be also a normal price if you decide to take one of the taxis waiting outside the airport building - you should not let them charge you more.

There is also a shuttle bus service from the airport to the Central Train Station. Those buses leave every 10-15 minutes and cost around 30 UAH (about 3 euros); they run at night as well. Once on the train station, please follow the instructions above.


FROM THE CENTRAL BUS STATION:

Go to the Lybidska metro station (should take about 10-15 minutes), take the metro and go to the Maidan Nezalezhnosti station (i.e. Independence Square). Once out of the metro on the Independence Square, please follow the instructions above.
