Welcome to The Crossing Backpackers a truly unique hostel.
Totally surrounded by the worlds first World Heritage Site, The Tongariro National Park.

Traditional Kiwi mountain lodgings, we have been adding luxury essentials, like, Central heating, 2mtr by 2mtr projector screen, 42 inch LCD TV, slate pool table, very private communal showers, quarter acre building for Indoor Paint Ball. Set on 18 rural acres, FREE 220metre Fly Fox (Zip Line) for all guests.
Kitchens are basic but functional for you to cook for yourselves.

In winter, perfectly located between Mt Ruapehu’s biggest Ski Fields

Car-pooling system to get everyone up the Mountain, plus shuttles if required & free pickups from bus stop (tell us), shuttles service to & back from the Tongariro Crossing (currently $30)


Atmosphere is cool, no stress here, no traffic lights, and no supermarkets for 40kms either, come prepared for anything.

Directions

The hostel is located in Erua, wich is 6km South of National Park Village. Just follow Highway 4 in southern direction.
