Description
The first thing that strikes you about the Belair is its openness. In a city that is rapidly becoming an urban nightmare, the Belair comes like a breath of fresh air. It takes you straight back to a gentler time when Bangalore was known for its beautiful buildings and its gardens. Well, the Belair does not disappoint. The designers resisted the impulse to build from wall to wall. Instead, they have left space for a beautiful garden, dominated by a rugged granite rock feature, interspersed by full grown date palms, brightened by flowers of the season everywhere. The lawns flow right to the road; there are no walls to imprison the landscaped grounds. The building itself soars above the gardens, open, airy, naturally ventilated. Set back from the road, the building does not dominate the gardens, but blends in. As you climb up to the front porch, you can?t miss the water cascade, the soothing sounds of which reinforce the impression of days long past. Step into the contemporary lobby, all glass and leather and chrome, and you will be amazed by the natural light that pours into the atrium from the glass skylight. All this greenery and fresh air must have put an edge to your appetite, right Let?s head straight to the Palm Springs ? an all day, casual dining restaurant. You?ll find Paul Fernandez? amazing mural on the left, windows opening out onto the garden on the right and glass doors looking straight out on the Swimming Pool. Guaranteed to quicken the senses and really sharpen that edge on your appetite The menu itself is a class apart. No standard artificially coloured tandoori chicken, no soggy palak paneer, no burnt rotis here. The menu is as light and airy as the hotel ? lots of salads, Euro cuisine and coastal delights from Karnataka.
