In front of Mizata resort you will find some great waves, Mizata Point break, beach break and a slab, just a 25 to 35 min drive will take you to Sunzal, K59 and to the countries greatest wave Punta Roca, a hollow point break. You can rent boards at the Hotel.
Surf school
Mizata beach is excellent for beginners to learn to surf. The beach is long and sandy. The waves at the inside are not that powerful. Best at high tide. Our experienced bilingual surf instructors will help you to ride your first waves.
Fishing trip
We offer fishing trips by boat. We will be trolling along the coast looking for tuna, dorado, red snappers and many other fish on the rich Salvadoran waters. We have fishing rods for rent.
Volcano Izalco
One of the younger volcanos of El Salvador that is still active. You can climb al the way up or you can visit the national park arround. You can see from different point the Santa Ana Volcano, Cerro Verde Volcano and the crater lake Coatepeque.
Juayua
Visit one of the montain towns on the Ruta de las Flores. The route is famous for all its flowers in the raining season. On the weekends there is a very nice local foodfair in Juayua. We can also visit the canopy rale in Apaneca trough a coffee plantation.

San Salvador/ Coast Highway: Follow the signs towards El Puerto de La Libertad, turn right (West), taking the “Carretera del Litoral†CA2 W (Coast high way) in direction to “El Sunzalâ€. Pass El Sunzal, El Zonte and you will find the first tunnel, (you will go through 5 tunnels total) aprox. 30 minutes after Sunzal you will find the 5th tunnel, and 5 km after you will be at the town of Santa Maria Mizata. 30 mts after passing the Police station you will see a sign that says “Mizata Resort†at km 86.5. Here you should turn left leaving the coast highway behind and entering a dirt road, just a few yards after entering this dirt road you should turn left again, follow this road that goes next to the river, about 300mts on this road you will be in front of the beach at Mizata Resort.
San Salvador/ Pan-American Highway: Take the Pan-American Highway West (CA1 W) towards Santa Tecla, 10 minutes after passing the town of Colon you should take the detour to Sonsonate at the crossroads locally know as “El Poliedroâ€. Take the road to Sonsonate (CA8 W), 25 minutes later you will find Sonsonate, continue on the road to Acajutla (CA12 S), before reaching Acajutla, just 10 minutes after Sonsonate, you will find on your left the road to La Libertad, Coast Highway (carretera del litoral CA2 W), 20 minutes on this road, heading East you will find Playa Mizata, 30 mts before the Mizata Police Station you will see a sign that says “Mizata Resort†at km 86.5. Here you should turn right leaving the coast highway behind and entering a dirt road, just a few yards after entering this dirt road you should turn left again, follow this road that goes next to the river, about 300mts on this road you will be in front of the beach at Mizata Resort.
Airport/Coast Highway: 2 kms after leaving the airport you will find the sign “Puerto de La Libertad, Playas La Libertadâ€, turn left following this sing, you will be taking the coast highway going west. When you reach El Puerto de La Libertad you must follow the same direction towards Sunzal. Pass El Sunzal, El Zonte and you will find the first tunnel, (you will go through 5 tunnels total) aprox. 30 minutes after Sunzal you will find the 5th tunnel, and 5 km after you will be at the town of Santa Maria Mizata. 30 mts after passing the Police station you will see a sign that says “Mizata Resort†at km 86.5. - Guatemala City: Exit Guatemala city following the road to Escuintla (CA9), at Escuintla take the road CA2 to the border of “Pedro de Alvarado†this border on the Salvadoran side is Called “La Hachadura†continue on the CA2 highway on Salvadoran territory until you find the crossroads locally known as “El Kilo 5†(about 30 minutes after crossing the border); Make a left at Kilo 5, taking the road to Sonsonate (CA12 S) after 5 minutes on this road you will find a sign that says Playas La Libertad on your right hand side, here you will be re-entering the CA2 high way, (carretera del litoral CA2 W), 20 minutes on this road, heading East you will find Playa Mizata, 30 mts before the Mizata Police Station you will see a sign that says “Mizata Resort†at km 86.5. Here you should turn right leaving the coast highway behind and entering a dirt road, just a few yards after entering this dirt road you should turn left again, follow this road that goes next to the river, about 300mts on this road you will be in front of the beach at Mizata Resort.
