Herbhome Farm And Hostel

Herbhome is a small farm just SW of Parthenon Arkansas. We back on the Ozark National Forest and are central to some really great hiking and canoe spots. We offer 3 airey platform tents that can sleep 6 in sleeping bags, or we usually have 4 mattresses in each tent.

We now have a hot shower- it is wood heated so is NOT instant! But it is great to finally have hot water....
We have animals everywhere- you may wake up to the coonhound howling, or owl hooting over head during mating season- an occasional visit from our local black bear happens as well. During summer, we swim in the Creek to cool off.

We are just an oldfashioned Mom and Pop place-while you are here you are part of the family- you share family style meals- get to hear all the tale tales that we can tell- and if our schedule allows , we are glad to guide hikes in our area.

DIRECTIONS
Hwy 7 to Jasper, Arkansas
Hwy 74 west past Point of View Restaurant to 327
Sharp left downhill
6 miles to Parthenon

Go around the sharp corner where the 2 story stone building is-(the old Shelton Store)
You will see the new Post office on the left just off the main road- take that road-
(it is Gum Springs road,) past the church and the yellow house- about 1/4 mile you will see a white sign saying Gum Springs Road and Lone Beach Church
Turn right-we are about 4 miles in from here- stay on the main road you can tell by the mail boxes- go across the Dry Shop bridge- up Buck hill
Stay along the main road keep going past the Lone Beach Church the road curves right on down hill across the skinny bridge. Turn left along the creek

A COUPLE OF BENDS and across a small slab- up a long hill- you pass Shumbumi cabin on the left, keep going along the flat past the rock house on the right past a green pipe and wire gate and on down hill-
CAUTION
DO NOT COME DOWN THIS HILL IN HEAVY RAIN- it is blue clay and SLICK
DO NOT CROSS THE CREEK IF YOU CAN’T SEE THE BOTTOM!!!!
HIGH CLEARANCE OR 4 WHEEL DRIVE ARE NEEDED TO CROSS THE CREEK.
(Our regular vehicle is a small Ford Ranger-)

Cross the creek and you will see a parking area.
The house is up above hike on up the hill road - you can drive up if you have the clearance---
If you are camping with us come on up and off load at the silver gazing ball, then park below.
