Auberge Keur Marrakis

Keur Marrakis is a bed and breakfast situated on the beach in a green and flourished oasis, only 5 minutes on foot from the handcraft market and from the fish market of Mbour.
Keur Marrakis is an integrated tourism centre, based on the fair employment of economic local resources, in harmony with the surrounding environment and respectful of local customs and traditions.

Mbour is a small city of the Petite Côte ('SmallCoast') on the strand of the ocean, near Saly, 80 km South of Dakar. Local life is very animated with its shops, barouches, markets, colourful boubous, its fishing port and its dugouts.

From the dominant position of Keur Marrakis, situated on a dune of fine sand, one reaches the beach by coming down a few steps. From the gritty terrace of the house, between the cactus, bougainvilleas and mesquite, one can enjoy the breeze and the spectacular sunsets over the ocean. This charming position, unique on the Petite Cote, transports the visitor in the relaxing atmosphere of Senegal. Here Africa gives you appointment awaits you, offering its enjoy some colours, flavours, scents and the hospitality of its beautiful people.


Our house comprises 5 comfortable and well equipped rooms, each with its own tiled bathroom, with ample sinks and showers. They have wooden beds made by the skilful woodworkers from Mbour, each with its own mosquito net in order to guarantee our visitors a calm and relaxing sleep.

A traditional lighting achieved with hand-carved calabashes, creates a subtle and mysterious atmosphere. The sky lights hanging from the roof, made from straw and wood, bring a gypsy touch to the first floor room. Also, in every room ceiling fans ensure a maximum of freshness during the hottest days, even though the maritime breeze keeps Keür Marrakis in a place cool and pleasant the whole year round.

Directions

Africa Thiossane staff is at disposal for the reception of its guests at the airport of Dakar.
For going from Dakar to M’bour taxi station catch a taxi brousse or a car rapide. When arrived in M’Bour taxi station call Africa Thiossane and we’ll pick you up or take a local taxi which will bring you to the hostel. Africa Thiossane is located 10 minutes car from the taxi station; near the Hospital along the sand street to Saly.
