A Museum House in a XIX Century Sintra Chalet.
The House of the She Pine Tree was built at the end of the XIX Century for a local farmers family, and expanded in the 30s, when it was redesigned to its Sintra Chalet looks.
It sits on the highground edge of the time forgotten villages of Sabugo and Vale de Lobo, in the county of the historic town of sintra (a Unesco World Heritage Site). The village rolls down the last west facing slope where the hills of Carregueira and Olela merge, with breathtaking views of the mountain of Sintra and its valley, with fabulous unlimited 270 degrees sunsets panoramas!
The sea from Guincho to Ericeira lies just behind the horizon.
The house was bought in the early sixties by the journalist, war reporter, radio and tv producer and speaker, painter, artist, award-wining novelist, theater and childrens stories writer, publicist, poet, antiquarian, art collector Olavo d Eca Leal (Vd. Bio).

The house will be the property of a foundation and hosts the temporary and permanent contributions of drawings, paintings, furnishings and personal objects of Olavo, constituting a Museum House.
In order to sustain its maintenance and support the conservation of the house and its collection, the house is operating as an inn/bed & breakfast, a non-profit charity.
The rooms are decorated with the art collection, furnishings, and personal objects of Olavo, on loan or donated by his widow, Emilia, and his son, Tomaz.
The collection is constituted mainly by drawings from 1926 to 1976, the year he passed away in Oxford, covering 50 years of his work.

By Car

From the AIRPORT, LISBON CITY CENTRE (24km) or from THE SOUTH…

• Take the A5 motorway towards Cascais,
• After 9 km take Exit 6 to A9 CREL,
• After 6 km take Exit 2A to the A16 motorway to Sintra,
• After 5 km take Exit 11 to Telhal / Vale de Lobos,
• Once you leave the motorway turn left towards Telhal / Sabugo,
• Go past Telhal and after about 1,5km you will come to a cross road. Turn left towards SABUGO (N117),
• Drive past the petrol station, which will appear on your right, and once you have arrived to Sabugo take the second right hand turn after the “Ó Lisboa” Restaurant towards ALMORNOS / ALMARGEM you will immediately see the house 50m ahead on your left-hand side.

From SINTRA (9km)…

• Take the A16 towards Lisbon and take the Exit 11 after 6km to Telhal,
• Once you leave the motorway turn left towards Telhal /Sabugo,
• Go past Telhal and after about 1,5km you will come to a crossroad. Turn left towards SABUGO (N117),
• Drive past the petrol station, which will appear on your right, and once you have arrived to Sabugo take the second right hand turn after the “Ó Lisboa” Restaurant towards ALMORNOS / ALMARGEM you will immediately see the house 50m ahead on your left-hand side.

From CASCAIS (21km)…

• Take the A16 towards Lisbon and take the Exit 11 after 6km to Telhal,
• Once you leave the motorway turn left towards Telhal /Sabugo,
• Go past Telhal and after about 1,5ks you will come to a crossroad. Turn left towards SABUGO (N117),
• Drive past the petrol station, which will appear on your right, and once you have arrived to Sabugo take the second right hand turn after the “Ó Lisboa” Restaurant towards ALMORNOS/ALMARGEM you will immediately see the house 50m ahead on your left-hand side.

From THE NORTH (A1) or THE WEST (A8)…

• From THE NORTH (A1) take Exit 2 to A9 CREL,
• From THE WEST (A8) take Exit 3A to A9 CREL,
• On the A9 take Exit 2A to the A16 towards Sintra and take the exit after 6km to Telhal,
• Once you leave the motorway turn left towards Telhal / Sabugo,
• Go past Telhal and after about 1,5km you will come to a crossroad. Turn left towards SABUGO (N117),
• Drive past the petrol station, which will appear on your right, and once you have arrived to Sabugo take the second right hand turn after the “Ó Lisboa” Restaurant towards ALMORNOS / ALMARGEM you will immediately see the house 50m ahead on your left-hand side.


By Train

From LISBON:

• Catch the direct train to MIRA-SINTRA / MELEÇAS at either ENTRECAMPOS or ROSSIO (change in CACÉM if you come from Rossio) – 30/40 minutes,
• Once at MIRA-SINTRA / MELEÇAS train station get the 103 BUS to SABUGO - 5/10 minutes.
• Alternatively you can give us call and we will pick you up for FREE from the station! If you let us know in advance it’s even better!
• Ps: if you come on the weekend come from Rossio and get the train to ALGUEIRÃO-MEM MARTINS since trains come more regularly. Let us know and we will pick you up from there!
