Bed And Breakfast Il Gelso

The B&B Il Gelso is a nice and friendly house in the typical mediterranean style, located in the beautyful countriside of Salento, in the vicinity of Lecce. The distance from the main roads, creates a quite and relaxing atmosphere, despite of the short distance form the most beautyful touristic places in Salento, and from Lecce itself.

This property is located at 5 km from Lecce.

The access to the villais through a gate that enters the tourist into a gravel path. In the left the wide pinewood, with hammocks, ilays and sqings, for a relax in the nature, and for a refrishment in the hot summer afternoons.

The patronal house, in the middle of the wide park, is the owners residence but can, in the busy periods of the year, be used to accomodate aditional guests.


Outside a spice garden, a stone oven and many fruit trees, the guest can use to pick up fresh fruit, and a soccer ground, equipped with powerful lights, for evening matches between groups of friends. Always in the park, separated from the patronal hous, a small one level building hosts 4 double rooms with two reserved bathroms (one bathroom per room). Between the rooms and the villa, a stone oven is used during the summer to cook pizzas and to barbeque.

The B&B Il Gelso has a total of 6 double rooms that can eventually be used as triple.

4 double rooms are located in the park, in a self standing building separate from the main villa. These 4 rooms can be accessed through two entrance doors, one for each couple of rooms. Each two rooms have a shared bathroom, that will be used by the people staying in those two rooms only.

Groups of 4 people, friends or family, can therefore have their own private access to their rooms, and aprivate bathroom.

The other two double rooms are located in the main villa. One is located on the first floor, and has a private bathroom right outside the room. The other room is on the second floor, and has a shared bathroom.

The double room with private bathroom is available to guests at a slightly additional cost.

- 55 km from the Brindisi airport
- 165 km from the Bari airport
- 10 km from the Lecce railway station

COMING BY TRAIN OR AIRPLANE:

- If we can, we will be happy to come and pick you up at the airport or at the railway station.
- The pick up from the Lecce railway station is free of charge
- The pick up from/to the Brindisi and bari airports, when possible, is not free, and is aimed to cover the fluel cost.
- We can take you to the should bus stop, where you can take the bus to the Brindisi airport. The Bari airport is not connected to Lecce by bus. You can eventually take a train to Bari, then a bus to the airport. The shuttle bus to Brindisi costs approximately 10 euros, and leaves from the entrance to Lecce.

COMING BY CAR:

- The best way to reach us, both coming from the north and from the south, is to take the 'tangenziale', that is divided in two segments called 'est and west tangenziale'. These to criccular segments merge together formin a circle surrounding lecce. You then have two options:

1) Take the GALLIPOLI exit. Take the Lecce-Gallipoli highway. After a few chilometers take the COPERTINO-SAN DONATO exit in the COPERTINO direction. When you geto to a large round-about, take the MONTERONI direction. After 4 km, turn left to the via Campo sportivo. After 200 meters turn right to the via Copertino, strada 100. Take it and, after about 200 meters, on your right, you'll find STRADA 101 that leads to our B&B.
2) Take the MONTERONI - ANRESANO exit. Go to Monteroni. When you reach Monteroni, turn left right before the Agip gas station. Go strait all the way till the long road ends, after crossing several crossings and stop signs. Make a right and go all the way straight till the road ends, then make a left. Go straight, pass the trafic light, and go 200 meters after the road sing marking the end of the Monteroni city, then make a left to VIA COPERTINO STRADA 100. Take it and, after about 200 meters, on your right, you'll find STRADA 101 that leads to our B&B.
