The Location
So long as you know where you are in La Ceiba, finding this hostal isn´t difficult -- however only main intersections have street signs and it may take some walking around before you find it. Taxis will normally give you a decent fare and should only cost about a dollar or two from anywhere within town.

Rooms and Bathrooms
There are three co-ed dorm rooms each housing three bunk beds (with six people per room). Since this property is a converted house, the rooms are typical bedroom size, so crowding is a bit of an issue. Each bed has its own name and has an associated drawer underneath the bed that you can lock.
The washrooms are clean and are what you would expect of a typical house. The shower is in good condition and has a brand new hot water heater that gives excellent flow. If you really need to go to the washroom and someone is hogging the shower, there is a second in front of the private room.

If you get stuck outside after the gates are locked, just ring the doorbell that is on one side of the gate.

Common Spaces
Outside of the bedrooms there is a TV area with comfy couches surrounding a couple of coffee tables. There is a dining and cooking area with toasters and a hotplate. Next to the reception at the entrance to the house is the computer which you can use for a half-hour for free each day.

Summary
Hostal Las Guacamayas is very professionally run establishment -- they even go as far as providing bar soap and a towel. For the weary backpacker this is a great place to relax on their journey.
