Surrounding Area
It is a 2minute walk to the lake and a 20minute walk to the beach and
town center. Pousada Jasmini is situated beautifully in Marica in between the lake and the ocean. It is a sprawling fishing centre standing on the north bank of the lagoon. Its peaceful waters are only narrowly separated from the ocean surf by the Barra de Maricá and Ponta Negra beaches, more laid-back than Rio’s Zona Sul. From Ponta Negra the view of the coast is breathtaking. Nearby, in UBATIBA, the colonial farm of Rio Fundo has been turned into a museum
exhibiting relics from the centuries of slavery.
Marica is a safe growing community with a well developed transport system. Bus and taxi stops are just outside the pousada gate. There are dozens of stores, cheap and fancy restaurants alike but all with succelent local and international cuisine. It is for the whole family as there are many activities and sites to visit and experience life altering moments. Kids can easily join the local soccer neighborhood games as soccer is very popular in the whole of Brazil. Breathtaking sites such as the famous Cristo statue at the peak of the mountain is accessible by climbing up the thousand steps staircase or riding the cable car. Visit other architectural landmarks, go around shopping for cheap souvenirs uniquely distinct to Brazil and Of course you can go partying and join the oh so festive carnavals! Or you can simply just enjoy a cozy relaxing dinner and witness the amazing sunset in this part of the world.

Vacation Rental Property
Across the strait at the mouth of Guanabara Bay lies Niterói, founded in 1573 and until 1975 the capital of the old state of Guanabara. Though lacking the splendour of the city of Rio, Niterói, with a population of half a million, has a busy commercial centre, an important museum and lively nightlife – well worth a visit, certainly, as it’s also the gateway to the Costa do Sol to the east.
Buses out of Niterói head east along the Costa do Sol, which is dominated by three large lakes – Maricá, Saquerema and Araruama, separated from the ocean by long, narrow stretches of white sandy beach – and flecked with small towns bearing the same names as the lakes. Approximately 10km directly south of Niterói are a number of smaller lakes, too, collectively known as the Lagos Fluminenses, though these aren’t really worth the effort to get to as the water is polluted. However, the evil-smelling sludge which surrounds them is purported to have medicinal properties. The main lakes are also muddy, but at least the water here is clean and much used for water sports of all kinds. The brush around the lakes is full of wildlife (none of it particularly ferocious), while the fresh, salty air makes a pleasing change from the city streets.
