Surrounding Area

Coober Pedy - an opal mining town located in the Outback of South Australia. It is situated within the erosional scarp of the Stuart Range which is generally stony and treeless. The town is surrounded by a moonscape like landscape dotted by shafts & mullock heaps from opal mining activities. It is recognised as the largest producer of Opal in the world.
Nearby are stunning natural landscapes such as The Breakaways and Moon Plain, both of which have featured in a number of movies eg. Mad Max, Priscilla Queen of the desert. A 4 hour tour departs daily at 1pm offering a full round trip of Coober Pedy`s interesting & unique sites.

Our Motel Rooms are 3.5 metres Underground in natural sandstone.
The Budget Rooms & Dormitories are 6.5 metres Underground all featuring the natural sandstone. Warm in Winter, Cool in Summer.

The outside appearance of Radeka Downunder Motel & Backpackers Inn is of a Mediterranean Style with white arches and verandahs.
