Hi-monterey Hostel

HI-Monterey Hostel is located 4 blocks from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Steinbeck's Cannery Row. We are minutes from Fisherman's Wharf and the world famous 17-Mile Drive.

Enjoy whale watching, scuba diving and kayaking on scenic Monterey Bay. Bike, rollerblade or stroll Monterey Bay's coastline recreation path. Tour the historic adobes and the Carmel Mission. Drive or take the bus to Point Lobos and Big Sur. Or just rest and relax in this area of natural beauty.

Directions

BY AUTO:

FROM SOUTH on Hwy 1: take Hwy 68 West Pacific Grove exit. Follow Pacific Grove signs, right onto David Ave, right onto Hawthorne, one block to hostel at 778 Hawthorne Street. Turn left on Irving and use the free parking lot behind the hostel.

FROM SOUTH on Hwy 101: at Salinas take Hwy 68 West to Hwy 1, continue as above following Hwy 1 South & take Hwy 68 West, Pacific Grove exit.

FROM NORTH on Hwy 1: Pass all Monterey exits and take the Hwy 68 West, Pacific Grove exit, continue as above.

FROM NORTH on Hwy 101: take Hwy 156 West to Hwy 1, then continue as above.

Check-in time is 5:00pm to 9:00pm, call to make arrangements for later arrival. Front Desk closes at 10:00pm

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:
Salinas is the closest Greyhound station. Take metro bus from Salinas to the Monterey Transit Plaza. Then take the #1 bus from the Transit Plaza to Irving Street, exit and continue on Irving crossing Lighthouse Ave. The hostel is 1 block uphill on the left, at the corner of Irving and Hawthorne.

Salinas Amtrak Station. Amtrak provides a bus from the Salinas Amtrak Station to the Monterey Transit Plaza. Ask the driver to stop at the hostel, otherwise follow directions by bus from the Transit Plaza above.

Monterey Peninsula Airport (MRY), 4.5 miles, take local bus #21 to the Monterey Transit Plaza then transfer to the #1 bus and follow directions by bus above.
