eKasie Backpackers is mainly self-catering but also prepares and provides meals on request. Visitors are able to help themselves to a basic breakfast, and thereafter join one of the many Khayelitsha day trips for tours, taking you from the local market right through to Khayelitsha's own Look out hill, ending your township experience with traditional eKasie meal.

eKasie Backpackers boasts five bedrooms named after biggest townships in South Africa namely: Khayelitsha, Soweto, Mdantsane, Kwa Mashu and Qwaqwa. Three of these rooms have en-suite showers, of which one is equipped to care for visitors with mobility access needs, the other two rooms have separate bathrooms. Soweto and Kwa Mashu are double rooms catering for those visitors who are not travelling in groups. There is a communal dining and a sitting room, aptly called the 'Chat Room', where visitors can exchange their travelling experiences. eKasie also have an entertainment area with a bar and a braaing area. We also have facilities to host trainings or conferences up to the maximum of 12 people. In addition, there is a lock-up garage for at least two mini-vans or larger 16-seater vehicle.


eKasie Backpackers is located 10 minutes from the airport, 5 minutes from local beaches which are Mnandi and Strand. eKasie is near the popular Lookout Hill, from where you can see the False Bay housing area, and Cape tourism personality Thope Lekau's well-known guesthouse, Kopanong B&B. Using eKasie Backpackers as your base, you can visit the local shebeens, arts & craft market, and pop into all the small shops in the area while you meet up with the locals.

From the N2 (Cape Town towards Somerset West),
Take the Mew Way turn off - just past the R300 turn off.
Turn right at the top - you're now on Mew Way road
Go past robots (traffic lights) - Lansdowne road
Go past 4 way stop - Aliam Street
Go past 3 way stop - Sigwele Street
Go past 3 way stop - Pama Street
Take next turn left - Ntlalo Street
Take next turn right - Luleka Street
Take next turn right - Benyano crescent
Go all the way to the end - you see eKasie Backpackers
