July 2007, the “Grande Hostel de Coimbra” is located at Rua Antero Quental nº 196, center Coimbra- near “Praça da República” - Coimbra's heart!

“Grande Hostel de Coimbra” is located near the most historical area of Coimbra. You can go to the University founded in 1290 by King D.Dinis and them start a walking tour of walled city and to many other monuments in 'Old-Town' where you will also found restaurants, cafes, esplanades, shops, tourism info spot... Try also not to miss the Botanic Garden and the Old Cathedral wirh romanesque style.
Coimbra is a few minutes from Conímbriga ( largest and best preserved Roman settlement in Portugal ) and from Buçaco (magic mountain forest located just northeast of Coimbra, was first settled by Benedictine monks in the 6th Century and it was battle ground from Napoleonic invasion of Portugal .



It´s also close to the main transport system (bus, taxi), the best night life area – Praça da República - and the train station that takes you to the nearest beach – Figueira da Foz- just for a few euros!

The building is over 100 years old and we keep the original things that make the hostel so special: really high ceilings and wood floors.

The “Grande Hostel de Coimbra” has 6 rooms available. There are two double bedrooms( one of them you can book it for 3, 1double bed and 1 extra dorm bed) in the hostel and dorms for 4 or 8 people. Free security Lockers in dorms.

The kitchen is open to all our guests and has all the necessary stuff to cook, so you can prepare your own food and save some money. There are 2 lounge areas and a big sunny garden where you can relax, have a drink, listen to music, read books and magazines, play games or just chat with the other guests. We have Free internet, Free WiFi, free maps, tourist info and guides, laundry, cable tv plus Free coffee and tea all day.
10 euros deposit for room keys.

No curfew.

2 hours after the time you are due to arrive in the Hostel we can cancell your booking if you dont contact us telling you will be late!!

Once you are in Praça da República search for MacDonalds. Now look left down the avenue and take the first street on your right(just before you start to go down)... Climb the 40m street (R. Tenente Valadim) and them turn left. You are in the street where you should (R. Antero de Quental) shearch on the right side the number 196... It´s the big light yellow house with the big trees!!! it's a 2 minutes walk from praça da republica.
