Koh Samui, also known as 'the island of the coconuts,' is the third largest Thai island, after Phuket and Koh Chang. With jungle covered hills and palm fringed bays, Koh Samui is 22 km at its widest point and 13 km in length, located 700 south of Bangkok. Neighboring islands include Koh Tao, (one of the top diving islands in Asia), Koh Phangan, Angthong National Marine Park, Koh Tan and beautiful Koh Nang Yuan.

A favorite holiday destination for travelers worldwide, Koh Samui offers diving, golf, waterfalls, trekking, beautiful beaches, health retreats, exotic spas and fine dining. A day trip around the island introduces you to small villages, Thai and Chinese temples, old Chinese heritage architecture, lush coconut groves and idyliic seaside restaurants all around the island. Well known beaches are Chaweng, Lamai, Bophut, Big Buddha, Choeng Mon, Hua Thanon and Maenam.


Before the 70's when backpackers discovered Koh Samui, it was a tranquil home to mainly coconut farmers and fishermen. Since then the island development has been steady, and this up-market paradise is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in Thailand, and the spa capital of the region.

Koh Samui can be reached by frequent flights from Bangkok, Phuket, Singapore and direct Samui/Hong Kong, Samui/Kuala Lumpur flights.

Asian textiles and carefully selected art pieces combine with modern amenities to create comfortable, serene and elegant interiors. The interior design focuses on calm neutral colours splashed with subtle accents of colour. Nature's restorative presence is felt through semi-open bathrooms, outdoor terraces and balconies, expansive windows and some captivating views.

The dining areas, Soma Restaurant, Amrita Café, and the Alchemy Tea Lounge, all offer refreshment in open-style interior settings with views that make a sumptuous addition to any meal.

The extensive Wellness facilities include Shakti Fitness Centre, the herbal steam cavern, plunge pools, Elixir Bar, Yoga Pavilion and Yoga Sala.

There are two swimming pools; a lap pool and a leisure pool. While they may go by various names, all of the Kamalaya integral Wellness Programs are essentially about promoting wellness on multiple levels; wellness of body, of mind and spirit.

You will find a detailed list of inclusions for each Wellness Program and Retreat, and in general these include your treatments, therapies, classes, consultations, food and beverages and airport transfers. To give you flexibility, our Wellness Programs and Kamalaya Signature Retreats are priced without accommodation. In this way, you can easily extend your stay for additional non-program days, or even combine two different programs in one stay if you like.

Individual Holistic Wellness Programs

These can be started on any day you choose and can go for any duration you desire. We offer a range of programs to address different goals, whether that is detox, weight management, yoga practice, fitness, dealing with stress or recovering from adrenal burnout, and each program is customised to your individual needs.
