Mt Warning as the sun came up - romantic honeymoon destination in Australia - nw: hinterland: mt warning park australia photography tweed coast hinterlandwe were driving through from Brisbane on our way to Sydney and were looking in the B&B Book for somewhere to stay overnight on the way down the coast. We phoned up Hillcrest and fortunately they could take us - although we would definitely book in advance next time so that we could get the Cottage. Not that the B&B room wasn't great, it was certainly a cut above any other place we stayed on our trip, but the Cottage looked even better, but someone had beaten us to that - apparently you really need to book the cottage well in advance as they only have one and everyone wants it.
we ended up staying there 3 days and then having to drive to sydney in one day which wasn't our original plan but Hillcrest was so beautiful and there was so much to see and do in the whole of the tweed area that we found it difficult to tear ourselves away.
next time we are doing the trip we'll plan things better as we never got the time to climb mt warning or go to the beach for the day as john really wanted a full day of golf at murwillumbah golf club - it's a championship course and has fantastic views of mt warning.

we did manage to visit natural arch - which is an amazing waterfall through the roof of a cave - at night it houses australia's largest glow-worm colony and the whole of the rainforest was full of fireflies too so it was something to see. get there about 7 though as the tour buses started to arrive at about 7:30 and that was a drag.
the tweed region as a whole is worth a longer holiday in it's own right and we can both strongly recommend Hillcrest Retreat as a place to stay - they have all kinds of tourist information and are very knowledgeable about the area and things to see and do so are a great deal of help when planning your time.
