Active Adventure

There is no better way to experience the nuances of the Andean landscape than by bicycle. With your legs you learn the contours of the mountains and valleys. With your senses you become one with your surroundings. With each curve comes a new discovery, each downhill a swell of energy, tires carving like skis. You travel light and free in the here and now with all you need stuffed in your panniers.

Typical Day

Hearty breakfast, load up, get on your bike and ride. Sometimes down river valleys, someimes across the paramo, sometimes grueling uphills followed by exhilirating downhills. Through Andean farmlands and small villages, greeted by the always-friendly Ecuadorian campesinos.

Age range, type of group

No age limits, except you should be old enough to be self-sufficient in your biking. Reasonably good health, of course, and mountain biking/touring experience.

Sleeping and meals

Ride hard all day, but sleep in comfort in a hacienda or other upscale lodge. Enjoy Andean cuisine in fine restaurants.
