Description of Surrounding Area
Our guests are those who enjoy getting away from the rat race of today's world - no blackberries, cell phones or fax machines to distract you from the beauty of Mother Nature. Here you can enjoy a quiet hike in the woods (bring your dog if you want); a gentle boat ride on Watauga Lake exploring the coves and streams - perhaps bring along a fishing rod to catch the elusive 300# carp said to live deep below the surface of the Lake.Sections of the Appalachian Trail are behind the Chalet, or there are easily accessed sections a few miles away. Hike to waterfalls, around the Lake, through stands of rhododendrons for some spectacular scenery.Bike on the world famous Virginia Creeper Trail. Bring your own bike to this Rails to Trails 34 mile trail, or rent one from one of the rental companies. Either way, be taken to the top of the mountain to coast down.Live theater, bluegrass and country music, festivals, art shows, - a lifetime is ot enough time to experience all the "quiet corner" of NE Tennessee has to offer.
