Surrounding Area
Granada dominates its fertile plain, coronated by the Sierra Nevadas and fortified by the Alhambra. The city bears the Genil and Darro rivers, which run through the center, dividing the two hills of the Alhambra and Albayzin.
Granada is a mix of old Iberian, Roman and Islamic cultures in a truly privileged setting. In the Islamic Albayzin and Sacromonte one can enjoy flamenco and folklore festivals. Though Granada is a historic treasure, it does not lack modern culture with a university and administrative and commercial centers.
