Day 1 27th March 2009, Arrival in Beijing Transfer via: International flight arranged by you Accommodations: King Wing Hot Spring International Hotel (5-star hotel) Upon arriving at the Beijing Capital Airport your guide will meet you with a welcome sign and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax and recover from jetlag, or head out into this ancient city for an adventure on your own.
Day 2 28th March 2009, Beijing (B,L,D) Accommodations: King Wing Hot Spring International Hotel (5-star hotel) Sites visited: Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square Special Dinner: Peking Duck Dinner In the morning you will visit Tiananmen Square and the magnificent Forbidden City. After lunch you will be taken to the Temple of Heaven. In the evening you will enjoy Beijing's famous Peking (Beijing) Duck in China's most famous Peking (Beijing) Duck restaurant.
Day 3 29th March 2009, Beijing (B,L,D) Accommodations: King Wing Hot Spring International Hotel (5-star hotel) Sites visited: Great Wall, Ming Tomb, Sacred Road, Water Cube, Bird Nest Unique Cultural Performance: Peking Opera Show On this morning you will be taken to visit the Great Wall (Badaling Section). After lunch you will stroll down the Sacred Road to the Ming Tombs. You will then be driven back to the city where you will visit two venues from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium) and the Water Cube (Olympic Aquatic Center). After dinner you will enjoy a spectacular Peking (Beijing) Opera performance at the Liyuan Theatre.
Day 4 30th March 2009, Beijing / Xian (B,L,D) Transfer via: Luxury soft sleeper train arranged by us Accommodations: On the New Oriental Express Train Sites visited: Hutongs, Summer Palace After breakfast you will visit the gorgeous Summer Palace and have an imperial lunch there. After lunch you will be driven back to downtown Beijing for a tour around one of Beijing's most famous Hutong areas. After dinner, you will be boarding the New Oriental Express Train to Xian.
Day 5 31st March 2009, Xian (B,L,D) Accommodations: Grand Castle Hotel (5-star hotel) Sites visited: Shaanxi Provincial Museum, Ancient City Walls Unique Cultural Performance: Tang Dynasty Show You will arrive at the Xian Train station at 09:00 (approx) in the morning, where you will be escorted to your hotel for a short rest. Later, you will visit the Shanxi Provincial Museum and Xian's Ancient city wall. After dinner you will see the Tang Dynasty Show.
Day 6 1st April 2009, Xian / Xining (B,L,D) Transfer via: Luxury soft sleeper train arranged by us Accommodations: On the New Oriental Express Train Sites visited: Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Big Wild Goose Pagoda After breakfast you will be taken to visit Xian's famous Terracotta Warriors, which includes a golf cart ride to the site. After lunch you will visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. After dinner you will board the New Oriental Express and travel to Xining, the capital of Qinghai Province.
Day 7 2nd April 2009, Xining (B,L,D) Accommodations: Yin Long Hotel (5-star hotel) Sites visited: Ta'er Temple In the morning the train will stop in the city of Xining where you will be escorted to your hotel. After lunch you will be taken to visit the ancient Taer Temple.
Day 8 3rd April 2009, Xining / Qinghai Lake (B,L,D) Accommodations: Qinghai Lake Hotel (3-star hotel) Sites visited: Sun-Moon Mountain, Qinghai Lake After breakfast you will board a bus to visit the Sun-Moon Mountain (3520meters above sea level). You will then visit Qinghai Lake, the largest saltwater lake in China, which occupies an area of over 1,740sq miles (4,500 sq km). We will spend the night next to the lake.
Day 9 4th April 2009, Qinghai Lake / Lhasa (B,L,D) Transfer via: Luxury soft sleeper train arranged by us Accommodations: On the New Oriental Express Train Sites visited: The center of Qinghai Lake, Bird Island On this day you will board a boat for a trip to Bird Island located in the center of Qinghai Lake. After visiting Bird Island you will head back to shore where you will board the New Oriental Express Train to Lhasa.
Day 10 5th April 2009, Lhasa (B,L,D) Accommodations: Brahmaputra Grand Hotel (5-star hotel) You will spend this day on the New Oriental Express Train and enjoy the spectacular beauty that unfolds before you. You will pass the world's highest mountain ranges, icy glaciers, and snow covered mountains. Upon arriving at the Lhasa train station in the evening you will be escorted to your hotel, followed by dinner.
Day 11 6th April 2009, Lhasa (B,L,D) Accommodations: Brahmaputra Grand Hotel (5-star hotel) Sites visited: Barkhor Street, Jokhang Temple, Potala Palace On this day you will explore the remarkable city of Lhasa. Your first stop will be The Potala Palace with its 10,000 steps. It is the largest structure in Tibet and it's most famous. You will then visit Jokhang Temple. The afternoon will be a bit more relaxed with plenty of time to explore Lhasa's famed Barkhor Street to shop, people watch, and watch artisans create amazing works of art in wood, stone, and cloth.
Day 12 7th April 2009, Lhasa (B,L,D) Accommodations: Brahmaputra Grand Hotel (5-star hotel) Sites visited: Sera Monastery, Norbulingka Park, Drepung Monastery, Carpet Factory After breakfast you will go to the Sera Monastery, one of the three largest monasteries in Tibet. You will then go to The Carpet Factory to see how traditional Tibetan carpets are hand woven. After lunch you will visit the Drepung Monastery and Norbulingka Park.
Day 13 8th April 2009, Lhasa / Gyangtse / Shigatse (B,L,D) Accommodations: Shigatse Hotel (3-star hotel) Sites visited: Karola snow mountain, Palkhor Monastery, Yamdrok Yumtso Lake In the morning you will travel by bus to Gyangtse. On the way you will visit the Yamdrok Yumtso Lake and the Karola Snow Mountain. After lunch you will visit the beautiful Palkhor Monastery. You will then travel to Shigatse and upon arriving check into your hotel.
Day 14 9th April 2009, Shigatse / Rongbuk Monastery (B,L,D) Accommodations: Rongbuk Monastery (Guest House) Sites visited: Rongbuk Monastery After breakfast you will be driven to the Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world at 16,404ft, which lies at the foot of Mount Everest.
Day 15 10th April 2009, Rongbuk Monastery / Everest Base Camp / Shigatse (B,L,D) Accommodations: Shigatse Hotel (3-star hotel) Sites visited: Everest Base Camp In the early morning you will be driven to the Everest Base Camp to see the sunrise. After lunch you will return to Shigatse.
Day 16 11th April 2009, Shigatse / Lhasa (B,L,D) Accommodations: Brahmaputra Grand Hotel (5-star hotel) Sites visited: Tashilhunpo Monastery, New Palace of Panchen After breakfast you will be driven back to Lhasa. On the way you will visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery and the New Palace of Panchen.
Day 17 12th April 2009, Lhasa / Lake Basongtso / Nyingchi (B,L,D) Accommodations: Nyingchi Hotel (3-star hotel) Sites visited: Lake Basongtso, Nyingchi In the morning you will be driven Nyingchi. On the way you will visit Lake Basongtso.
Day 18 13th April 2009, Nyingchi / Huge Cypress Forest / Yarlung Zangbo River / Nyingchi (B,L,D) Accommodations: Nyingchi Hotel (3-star hotel) Sites visited: Huge Cypress Forest, Yarlung Zangbo River On this day you will be driven to the Huge Cypress Forest and the Yarlung Zangbo River.
Day 19 14th April 2009, Nyingchi / Lhasa (B,L,D) Accommodations: Brahmaputra Grand Hotel (5-star hotel) After breakfast you will board a bus to Lhasa. On the way you will marvel at the stunning scenery that passes by your window.
Day 20 15th April 2009, Lhasa / Zetang (B,L,D) Accommodations: Zetang Hotel (4-star hotel) Sites visited: Trandruk Temple, Yumbulagang In the morning you will board a bus to Zetang. While in Zetang you will visit the Yumbulagang Monastery and the Trandruk Temple. Stay overnight in Zetang.
Day 21 16th April 2009, Zetang / Lhasa / Departure Transfer via: International flight arranged by you On this day your guide will escort you to the Lhasa airport from Zetang for your flight to your next destination.
