Braemar House Yha

Braemar House YHA, is a restored historic homestead located on the banks of the Whanganui River and gives the option of either tasteful Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the Guest house, or quality YHA hostel accommodation in the separate Hostel.
Additionally it is a five minute walk to the city centre, Tourist attractions and nearby Restaurants and Cafes.
The dormatories are airy and light (both male and female facilities) The private rooms are situated in their own annexe and provide singles, twins, doubles and two family rooms. (one ensuite). All are centrally heated in Winter.
We also provide camping facilities in the huge half acre grounds, bike storage, wireless internet, barbque, sunloungers and a large sub tropical garden (including a meditation corner by a peaceful, natural springfed pool) to relax in. Parking is provided in the grounds.
We have in house access to Hostelling International forward booking facilities and YHA travel desk. The Paddle Steamer Waimarie passes daily in front of the Hostel, while the famous Mail Run Tours pick up daily from the Hostel. The Volcanic Plateau and Skifields (Turoa) are approximately 1-1/2 hours driving from Wanganui.

This is a very comfortable, laid back, Hostel and if you want to unwind, totally relax, sunbathe in the beautiful gardens, grab a book from our extensive library, or watch TV and feel at home, then this is the place for you.
Our kitchen is great for those who like to cook, you name it we have the utensils.

Directions

We are approx three quarters of a kilometre from the bus station which is a $6nzd taxi ride or if we are not busy we will uplift you. We are also a five minute walk to city centre, restaurants and cafes and all tourist attractions.
The airport is approx four kilometres away and is a $15nzd ride.
