Woodbridge is in the heart of the Derwent Valley. The river has great trout fishing, and rafting and jet boating are available. Beautiful farmlands and orchards make for spectaculatr drives, and the wonders of Mt Field National Park, Russell Falls, Something Wild Wildlife Sanctuary and the Tall Trees Reserve, site of the tallest hardwood trees in the world, are a short drive away. Vineyards with tastings, breweries making local farm-brewed beers, and cherry orchards offer gastronomic interest, and antique shops are a welcome diversion. Spectacular scenery, Australian history, wildlife and wilderness and food and wine from the freshest air and cleanest water on the planet make this valley one of the few unspoiled places left to enjoy.

Woodbridge on the Derwent is an 1825 convict built Georgian Mansion which has been transformed by an Australian award winning renovation, into an elegant nine suite hotel. Woodbridge is Tasmania's only member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and provides the personal attention and standard of international luxury one would expect of a five star property. Each suite is unique, with commissioned art works, rich fabrics, age worn floors, open fireplaces, comfortable lounges and shuttered windows. A ballroom with pianola, log fire and luxurious lounges, a Reading Room, Breakfast Room, gym,sauna and hot-tub look after comforts. Bicycles are provided for guest's use, and the river front has wonderful walks. All suites have queen or king size beds, bathrooms with Molton Bown toiletries, robes, tea and coffee provisions, mini bar and refrigerator, TV, DVD and CD players, internet access, heaters, cooling, fans, some have spas, all have open fireplaces.

Amenities

Breakfast is included for our web-site bookings and is long, lazy, with fresh coffee and croissants, fruit, cheeses, cold meats cereals mueslis toast and local jams, and eggs and bacon if thats not enough!
In-house dining is available , 3 or 4 course gourmet dining with local wines , served by your private wait-person, in your suite or in the ballroom.

A mini-gym sauna and hot-tub are provided for guests use, as is also a laundry.
Bookings can be made for other local or Hobart restaurants.

Woodbridge on the derwent is a short 45 minute scenic drive from Hobart Aitport. Hobart is a 55 minute flight from melbourne or a 1 hour 30 min flight from Sydney
