Surrounding Area

The town is in the northeast of the Province and is one of the most spectacular high locations at the top of and down a side of a cliff, on the right hand bank of the river Guadalete. The town sits between 50m above the river at its lowest part and 195m at the base of the castle. It’s the starting place for a tour of the Pueblos Blancos(white villages).

One’s first impression is of a row of whitewashed houses sprinkled with imposing monuments which rise towards an impressive rose tinted gorge. Arcos is typical of the white villages and is well worth a leisurely visit. Its best to leave your car at the bottom of the cliff and make the trip on foot.

While still within the outskirts of the town one finds oneself in the Paraje Natural de la Cola de Embalse de Arcos. A little further to the east is the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales, a real jewel of the Province.


The Lago de Arcos(Arcos Lake) is a good place for watersports, such as, rowing, dingly sailing, windsurfing and motor boating. Fishing enthusiasts have one of the best facilities and throughout the year there are many regional and national competitions.

Located in the heart of the old town of Arcos de la Frontera, one of the most beautiful “pueblos blancos” or white towns in Andalusia and a historical heritage site, is the small simple and charming inn. La Casa de Bóvedas was recently restored by its owners, Cecilia Lozano and architect Remy Lemmens. With just two suites and three double rooms, all ensuite, it is a perfect example of the decoration and architecture of Andalusia: white plaster walls, colourful tiles, arches, furnishings in bright colours, open air courtyard and lovely views

The streets of Arcos are very narrow and parking is at a premium, so you will save yourself a lot of anxiety if you just park your car out of the old town and walk to the hotel or take a taxi on 5 minut you are infront of the house.If you need help when you arrive you can call and we go to take you and help with your lugages.
