Surrounding Area

Porto Pafti has many beautiful sandy beaches, restaurants and sea-front fish tavernas that serve traditional Greek food and delicious local wine. All main amenities such as open-air cinemas, clubs and bars, pattisseries and coffee shops, doctors and chemists, supermarkets and designer boutiques are within 5 minutes drive from our villa.
There is a mini-market, a pattisserie, coffee shop and a traditional Greek taverna just 3-5 minutes walk away.

For those interested to explore the area further or partake of different activities, there is plenty nearby to see and do:
• make a visit to the forest of Kouvaras with its many monasteries. This is about 10 minutes drive.
• play golf at the famous Glyfada Golf Club of Athens, only a short drive away
• sample a variety of water sports and other activities at the nearby Club Med complex in Vravrona.

• surf in Lavrio where yachting lessons are also available
• go island-hopping from nearby ports.
• hire your private yacht with captain to cruise to islands of your choice, with drinks inclusive.

There are many ancient sites and temples that you can visit, just short drives away. They include:
* the impressive temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounio
* the temple of Artemis in Vravrona
* the burial mound and museum of Marathon, and of course
• the Parthenon of Athens and the many museums.

Porto Rafti, an old fishing village, is a seaside town, located in the picturesque Porto Rafti Bay on the east coast of Attica. It is conveniently placed near the new Athens International Airport and the Attiki Odos (new motor-way) and to connections to the excellent new Metro.
The area is rich in history. The port was a major trading place during the Ancient times and continued so until the collapse of the Roman Empire. As the town is surrounded by hills its weather is somewhat distinct from the rest of Attica – the climate is typically Mediterranean and resembles that of the Aegean Islands with relatively mild winters and hot dry summers.

Porto Rafti is only 38 km from the center of thriving and exciting Athens. It has excellent transport connections making it very easy to visit the Parthenon with its museums, the flea market and the following festivals:

* Athens Festival, held at the magnificent ancient open-air theatre of Herod Atticus Odeon (built in 161AD).
The programme includes symphony orchestras, classical drama and dance, and operatic performances. This continuous series of events is held each evening during the months of June to the end of September.

* Lycabettus Hill Festival. The programme includes contemporary jazz, pop, rock and dance shows. This is held during the summer months

• Greek Dance festival at Dora Stratou on the Philopappus Hill from May to September

Vacation Rental Property

Villa Athina is located in Porto Rafti which is an old fishing village that has kept its charm (and still has fresh fish landed every morning), while developing as a beautiful holiday resort that has not been deluged by too many tourists.
The house has a lovely garden and a patio with a large marble table, chairs and barbecue. It is an ideal and attractive breakfast spot as it benefits from shade until mid morning and of course it is ideal for evening meals and for enjoying the local wine or a glass of ouzo outside.
With one king en-suite, one double and two twin bedrooms, the villa is ideal for families or 'get-togethers', with plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay.
Athens with the Parthenon, museums and the flea market is a mere 38 kilometres away.

Villa Athina is tastefully furnished, air-conditioned and fully equipped for a perfect holiday. All rooms are double glazed and have the additional benefit of windows protected with mosquito nets.

Villa Athina is part of a small number of holiday units in the same site, ideal also for larger groups.
Car hire is advisable to enjoy your holiday and explore the nearby area. Public transport is also excellent.

How to get there.
Fly to ATH (Athens International Airport) which is about 12 kilometers away from our villa - some 20 minutes drive. We will send you a step-by step photo-route to guide you by road from the airport and we will meet to take you to the villa in Porto Rafti. There are also taxis available - fares should be no more than 25 euros.
We will provide you with all the information you need for the area, local attractions, tips and suggestions, food and day trips, beaches to choose from and night life; everything you need for an unforgetable holiday.
