Hostel Skippy

Hostel Skippy is an Artist owned and operated hostel created out of a beautiful 200-year-old house located along the Vltava River in historical Cesky Krumlov. Our unique river-house hostel is cozy, intimate, and very relaxing.

Our guests refer to the hostel as a home away from home. With a maximum capacity of 12 guests it is unlike your typical hostel experience. The atmosphere is creative and relaxing and our riverside location is amazing. The hostel has a large terrace, river access, breathtaking views, art covering the walls, fully stocked guest kitchen, free use of towels, low year-round prices, no curfew, no lockout, no bunkbeds or smoking indoors, and a very friendly and helpful staff.

It is a five minute walk from the town square as well as beautiful forest trails. If you are a NATURE LOVER please ask us to recommend beautiful places to visit both here in Cesky Krumlov as well as in the nearby Sumava forest. Day trips are inexpensive, will give you a more complete understanding of South Bohemia, and your perspective will become that of a Traveler's rather than a tourist's. Yes folks there is a difference. :) On that note, we don't have a minimum stay requirement but we strongly recommend that you plan to stay for more than a glance.


Upon arrival we will give you a map of the town and helpful tips about where to eat, drink, and have a great time. We will also be happy to assist you with day trips, bike rentals, boat rentals, horseback riding, arranging a massage, or to help you with with planning onward travels.

Directions

There are two ways to get to our hostel from the main bus terminal. One goes through the town which is a bit hilly and the other takes you a slightly longer way but along a flat street which makes it a bit easier if you have heavy bags.


ARRIVAL BY BUS THROUGH TOWN: When you arrive to Krumlov get off the bus at the last stop. You will be at the bus terminal. From there walk toward the end of the parking area toward the view of the castle. You will find a small path at the end of the bus terminal. Take it. It will go slightly uphill and then bend to the right until you reach a traffic light at the main road. Cross the main road and continue forward into town. When you reach the church stairs on your left side make a left and walk along the road which is to the right of the stairs. You will notice a lot of artwork in the windows of the building on the right side as you walk along. It is an art school for children. As the little road goes downhill make a left at the first street. You will notice some interesting sculpture of fingers holding up the corner of the building... it is an art shop. Once you turn left you will cross the bridge and go forward. Then you can either go up the stairs that you will reach at the end of the bridge OR if you prefer an easier way, turn to the left and walk a few minutes and then turn to the right at the first street. It will lead you slightly uphill until you reach a small parking area. Once there, turn to the left... after a minute you will see an orange house on your left side and then the street will start to go downhill. Our hostel is on the left side slightly below street level. If you decide to go up the stairs, once you reach the top just go forward, through the parking area and continue past the orange house until you find us.




ARRIVAL BY BUS ALONG THE MAIN ROAD: When you arrive to Krumlov get off the bus at the last stop. You will be at the bus terminal. From there walk toward the end of the parking area toward the view of the castle. You will find a small path at the end of the bus terminal. Take it. It will go slightly uphill and then bend to the right until you reach a traffic light at the main road. Cross the main road and turn to the left. Walk along the main road for about ten minutes until you cross the long bridge that goes directly over the river. Once you cross the bridge turn immediately to the right and walk down the path and through the parking area with the river on your right. We are the fifth building on the right slightly below street level. It should take about ten or fifteen minutes.

ARRIVAL BY TRAIN : The train station is far from the town but it's a downhill walk... if you're up for it just look on the wall at the train station and you will see our map with directions. We also have flyers there to help you find us. Otherwise you can call us upon arrival and we'll order a taxi for you.

DIRECTIONS FROM TRAIN STATION:


When you get out from the train at the station, turn right and walk to the main road.
On reaching of the main road, turn left and follow the road.It will lead you downhill towards the town centre.
You will after appx 15 minutes of walking, reach the VZP pojistovna - insurance office, on your left, Tescoma shop a few steps down also on your left, keep on walking towards the cinema (Kino) it will be on your left and in front of it you will see a small square with a fountain, cross the square and go toward the bridge that crosses over the main road toward the town. DO NOT CROSS THE BRIDGE. Instead, just before the bridge crosses the main road there is a small path on the right which leads down to the main road below. Take it. Cross the main road and turn to the right. Walk along the main road. You will be walking against traffic with the town castle on your left. Continue forward until you reach the first parking lot on the left. Go through it and you will find a small bridge going over a creek... cross it and you will be in front of a large white bridge with many arches. Go under it and then turn to the right with the river on your left side. Walk along this road for about five minutes. You will pass a couple of restaurants on your right and you'll also pass hostel ryba and hostel postel. Continue on this road until you reach restaurant 'U Bejka' on the right side. Just past the restaurant you will find the plesivec stairs on the right. Go up the stairs past the little parking area and continue walking foward. You will pass an orange/reddish house on the left and the street will start to go downhill. You will be minutes from our place. We are a white house on the left slightly below street level. Plesivecka 123. Sounds complicated but it's actually quite simple and it's a lovely walk.
