Ocean Island Suites

Located in the heart of a quiet and historic James Bay neighbourhood is our fully appointed Ocean Island Suites. This bright 1907 character house offers three spacious custom designed and decorated apartments that each come with a fully-equipped kitchen, a full bathroom with bathtub, a queen-size bed, cable TV and a separate private entrance. Weekly housekeeping is available on request.

The house also has a large back yard and deck and coin-operated laundry facilities in the basement. Free wireless internet is available throughout the building and a high-speed internet terminal is provided in the lobby along with handy travel information and a free phone for local calls and access to our 24 hour Front Desk.

All the amenities at the nearby Ocean Island Backpackers Inn are also made available for guests at the Suites including a licensed lounge with frequent live music acts.


The Suites are situated one block from Beacon Hill Park, three blocks from ocean bluffs and beaches and only five blocks from downtown. Surrounded by beautiful old houses and greenery, the Ocean Island Suites also lie nearby to a small and friendly commercial centre complete with grocery store, drug store, restaurants, cafes, etc., as well as is located just a block away from the famous Emily Carr House.

Please note that check-in is at the Ocean Island Backpackers Inn, at 791 Pandora Ave, and payment must be made by credit card. We can arrange transportation for you from to the Suites if needed.

Check in is at the Ocean Island Backpackers Inn location at 791 Pandora Avenue. From there we will arrange your transportation to the Suites if you do not have a vehicle.

To get to the Backpackers Inn:

From Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal - Take the #70 city bus into Victoria. Get off at Pandora Ave and Douglas St. Walk one block east on Pandora Ave to Blanshard St.

From the Victoria Travel Info Centre - Walk north on Government St to Pandora Ave, turn right and go three blocks east to Blanshard St.

From the Bus Station - Walk north on Douglas St to Pandora Ave, turn right and walk one block east to Blanshard St.

From the Airport - Take the Airporter shuttle ($14) directly to the Backpackers Inn. Or, take the #70 city bus to the Pandora Ave and Douglas St intersection. Walk one block east on Pandora Ave.

From the Inner Harbour Ferries - Walk three blocks east on Belleville St, turn left on Douglas St, walk north to Pandora Ave, turn right and walk east to Blanshard St.
