This tour explores the birding habitats in Guyana’s interior. It focuses on the areas around Kaeiteur falls Iwokrama Rainforest reserve, and Surama. These locations are noted for their incredible birding opportunities. We may encounter birds such as the Guianan Cock- of the- Rock, White chinned and White –tipped swifts, Macaws, toucans, Cracids, Cotingas, Crimson Topaz, Crimson Fruitcrow, Hoatzin, the Harpy Eagle and parrots.

Typical Day

Itinerary:

Day 1: Saturday: Afternoon transfer airport to Le Meridien Pegasus. Overnight.

Day 2: Sunday: Fly to Kaieteur Falls and spend 2 hours exploring while searching for the famous Guianan Cock of the Rock. We continue to the jasper lined Orinduik falls. Swimming in this natural pool is a treat before we continue our flight to Annai. We transfer to Surama Guest House for overnight.


Day 3: Monday: Morning bird watching around Surama. Afternoon visit to the community center and school. Visit with the locals. Overnight at Surama Guest House.

Day 4: Tuesday: This morning we take a leisurely walk to Burro Burro River for great birding opportunities. We may likely see birds such as the Savannah Hawk, Pearl Kite in this area .Late afternoon return to Surama Guest house. Overnight.

Day 5: Wednesday: Drive from Surama to Annai, lunch at Rockview Lodge; transfer to Atta Rainforest Camp; afternoon bird-watching on canopy walkway. Overnight Atta Camp.

Day 6: Thursday: Morning on canopy walkway; lunch at Atta. Afternoon transfer to Iwokrama Field Station. Along the way, birds you would most likely see are: cracids, cotingas, Crimson Topaz, Crimson Fruitcrow, Hoatzin, the Harpy Eagle and parrots. Overnight at the field station.

Day 7- Friday: Hike up Turtle Mountain, afternoon boat trip near Field Station.

Day 8: Saturday: Transfer to Annai for our flight to Georgetown. Afternoon city tour and botanical gardens for bird watching. Overnight at Le Meridien Pegasus.

Day 9: Sunday: Transfer Le Meridien, Pegasus to airport for departure.
