Description of Surrounding Area
The Beartooth Wilderness is a short distance away and offers just about anything for the adventure seeker. You can hike to Yellowstone or stay closer to home on one of the many Forest Service trails near the house. If hiking isn't your bag, try horseback riding, fishing, kayaking, whitewater rafting or even rock climbing. For thoses fly fisherman who don't like to go far, the Stillwater River is out the back door. We have many local restaurants, shopping and bars. We are rdown the road from the Historic town of Fishtail with the Cowboy Bar and The Fishtail Store. The larger town of Absarokee has a little bigger stores and antique shops. Go a little farther to the Western town of Red Lodge and Gateway to the Scenic Beartooth Highway. Plan a day trip and cross the Beartooth, have lunch in Cooke City, come back via Chief Joseph Byway and have dinner at one of the many great restaurants in Red Lodge. The Beartooth Cabin has just about something for everybody in "The Last Best Place".
The cabin is a new custom built hand-hewn log cabin built by local craftsmen and ourselves. It sits on 10 quiet and secluded acres and is surrounded by the magestic Beartooth Mountains and overlooks the Stillwater River. You can literally walk out the back door to go fishing. The interior logs are very unique and all hand stripped. The House is decorated in a Western style. We have abundant wildlife on the property. A herd of deer calls our yard home. Eagles and even bears call the canyon home. But don't worry about the bears. They are more afraid of us than we are of them.
