The Ion Inn and The Natural Gait Cabins provide a scenic peaceful haven for a wonderful safe getaway experience. Whether you are looking for a family vacation, a honeymoon spot, or just a rest from the fast pace of daily living you will be thrilled with your experience at The Natural Gait located in NE Iowa. Bird watching, hiking, trail riding, fishing, canoeing, leisurely strolls alongside wildflower fields, star gazing, observing wildlife, and just plain enjoying life in a natural setting is all possible at The Natural Gait .We have many types of lodging and camping choices. Our three fully-furnished beautiful log cabins are perched high on the ridge overlooking the river. The cabins sleep up to eight. The Ion Inn and the Mule-Tel is located at Ion Exchange just a few minutes scenic drive from the cabins which are located at The Natural Gait.The Lodge/s Great Room comfortably holds 50 people for dinners, receptions, meetings, and more. You can get catered meals for any affair or event. Upstairs at the Lodge are dormitory style rooms which are often used for retreats, weddings, or if you are just needing a room.Pets are welcome at The Natural Gait with a few exceptions (no pets allowed at Ion Inn or the Mule-Tel). We are even a horse hotel, we have covered stalls for horses.

You are in charge of your day at The Natural Gait. All the cabins and other accomidations are fully appointed down to the coffee pot. Each facility has books, and games. We do not have television or phones at the cabins. We will stock your refrigerator if you request it, with whatever you like. You can backpack our many trails, or just stroll, cross country skiing is popular in the winter months. Star Gazing, bird watching, fishing, canoeing, all these things are available.

Sleeping and meals

Our rooms and cabins are very spacious and we can accomidate you with your needs. We have camping available and each cabin has a place for a camp fire as well as having fireplaces in the cabins.

Restrictions

Pets are welcome with the exception of Ion Inn, and the Mule-Tel.
