Located at Desolation Sound Marine Park, Powell River Sea Kayak offers
guided tours ranging from 3 hours to 7 days. All tours are fully outfitted with the best equipment in the industry and professional guides provide a high level of safety, interpretation and fabulous food.

In addition to guided tours, guests can also rent kayaks for a few hours or several days to explore the areas varied shoreline. For those seeking to sea kayak safely, a full slate of instructional programs is also available.


Powell River Sea Kayak's site near Desolation Sound Marine Park is not only the key staging area for Desolation Sound and trips beyond, but it is also the original homestead site of "The Cougar Lady of Okeover Inlet". Nestled in a lushly wooded area on Okeover Inlet, this site boasts the original cabin, outbuildings and ancient orchard.

Key features of Desolation Sound and the Toba Inlet region include warm waters (up to 74F!), towering mountains, water falls, meandering water ways ,
and some of the best marine wildlife on the coast of BC. In fact, the intertidal
marine life is so spectacular, we offer a fully guided snorkel tour called:
"Snorkel with the Stars!"

are perfect for paddling over or the stunning views towards the towering Coast Mountain range, guests will indulge in the present.

Age range, type of group

Group dynamic is important. There are generally no age restrictions, however Powell River Sea Kayak will attempt to book like-minded individuals into specific groups. Some tours are more suited to families while other trips are more suited to adults.

Sleeping and meals

Mutli-day trips are camping tours. Powell River Sea Kayak provides high quality tents and comfortable Thermarest sleeping pads to ensure guest comfort.
Campsites are chosen to provide wonderful views and the idyllic ambiance
of coastal British Columbia.

For those looking for a more comfortable option, staying at one of the local lodges or resorts and joining one or more of our guided day tours is highly recommended.
