Surrounding Area

San Miguel del Mar is located on the southern Pacific coast of Guatemala, known to some as the Guatemalan riviera. We are on the rural coast between the internationally known ecological park El canal de Chiquimulilla, filled with mangroves
and the Pacific Ocean with the best sailfishing in the world.

Accommodations

San Miguel del Mar is a private home to hosts Guillermo and Peter offering four oceanfront suites for friends and guests who cherish privacy, serenity and service in a relaxed native way. The three acre property has the main private residence, two twin buildings that have two suites each, one downstairs and one upstairs, beachfront cabanas, outdoor showers, a swimming pool and gardens. There are rooftop terraces where your 360' views of the coastline and volcanoes are just spectacular and that´s from the hammock!

Rooms/Suites

A covered patio greets you in each suite before walking into a living room, a separate open bedroom area with king sized bed, and spacious bathroom. The suites, which are designed for two people, have security boxes and mini refridgerators with honor bars, towels, linens, bathrobes and of course, ocean views even from your bed.

Amenities

This is heaven, here on the coast, and there are no phones, no t.v.´s and no air conditioning, but we do play music in the living areas and all the rooms have ceiling fans. It´s the best place to let go, disconnect and get away from it all. We supply all the meals and all the meals are included in the cost of your stay. Guillermo and Peter personally do all the cooking and the meals are served with care and attention. We are happy to accommodate any special diets you may have according to freshness and availability.

Services Offered

El Conde Descalzo is the name of our private restaurant but we can gladly serve your meals in your rooms if you wish. We have a full bar and we always ask if there is something special we can provide for you so your stay will be more comfortable. The room fee includes three meals a day per person, with water, coffee, tea or lemonade included. All addtional drinks or food ordered will be charged separately.

Restrictions

San Miguel del Mar is for adults 18 and older. The suites are non smoking but you can smoke on the patios. We do not allow pets but on the premises there are two cats, Fernanda and Bruno Marcelo; and, currently, 24 little turtles that just hatched in our turtle pond.

Other Information

There is a rainy season here from June thru October and the garden becomes lush and the surrounding area very green. October thru February are the coolest months for sleeping. San Miguel del Mar sleeps 8 people normally, in the four suites, and we can be full and you may never see another person unless it´s in the dining room. If you are coming to Guatemala we can recommend places to see: Antigua, Chichicastenango, Lake Atitlan and, of course, the Mayan ruins of Tikal.

Directions

We are two hours from Guatemala City on the Pacific coast between Puerto Quetzal and Monterrico. Guests can drive directly from the city; we can arrange car service; go through the scenic route between the volcanoes from Antigua; or we can provide you with the GPS coordinates for a 15 minute helicopter ride from the city.
