
Activity/Tour
Elite Guided Itineraries take the traveler to the heart of traditional Romania. Guests will meet local craftspeople in their workplaces, encounter experts with various historic, ethnographic or flaura-fauna interests. The traveler will visit restoration projects supported by Prince Charles foundation in the medieval fortified-church villages of Saxon Transylvania. City and rural lodgings are selected from a BtF recommended list.
Typical Day
No more than five guests travel with one guide in an SUV. By-ways through the Carpathian Mountains and Transylvania villages are selected. Roads are often rough and used only by agreement with guests. Actual sites visited is up to the traveler and include fortified churches, village craft workshops, medieval towns, ethnographic experts. Meals might include special guests to share insights on selected topics. When possible guests are invited to special cultural events (concerts, folk exhibits, demonstrations). Hiking or horse-riding options are offered.

Elite Guided Itineraries are designed principally for the discerning adult in search of an 'out-of-the-way' adventure into traditional culture.

Restrictions: no children under 12; no pets. Smoking is based on peer acceptance in vehicles or per local laws and rules.
Other Information
Because groups are small, no more than 8 travel in two SUV vehicles, Elite Guided Itineraries allow guests to amend and customize their choices of places and events in coordination with the guide. All trips are subject to changes due to weather, seasonal events, and to periodic holidays.
